Two monitors, one GPU, one player

I'm looking for a way to run EVE at the highest resolution on my main monitor (only) and simply have a desktop running on the other monitor (of a different resolution).

When I setup the game for my primary monitor and went to launch, it reverted back to its settings that the other monitor would max out too.

I've browsed through these forums but didnt see any definitive answer.

Thanks...

Windowed mode works for me, but not sure about the resolution.

I run Eve Online on a computer with 3 monitors, 2 of which are 1920x1080.

Running Eve windowed is by far the best way to do this.

You have to install eve again but this time in a different location. You then have 2 launchers which don't share the same settings :).
So you get this

Or How you want this ? < thats just the fixed window mode in settings =|

Note, im playing on the bigger monitor which is my primary one in my AMD control panel but it can be changed....

He is only running one instance of Eve, per the OP.

there is a sanctioned, supported method of doing this.

it allows for 2 full screen clients, seamless scrolling between them, and differing option settings and overview setups between each and only one copy of the EVE client installed. It uses what are called 'junctions', and works very very well

Details here: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Multiple_clients

Once you have the junctions and multiple launchers setup, put each client into 'fixed window' mode and set to the same resolution as your desktop, and select the appropriate video adapter on each client (#1 or #2)

He only wants one client.

OP - Windowed mode, but you're probably going to have your desktop on the default monitor and the client displaying on the other.

Exactly.

I´m with the same setup and I love it.

Confirming fixed window mode. I run Eve on a 1900 x1200 main screen in fixed window mode with my desktop on a 1650x 1080 secondary.

Set eve window to windowed mode, move window to the screen you want to use, and maximise the Window.
Incredibly easy to do, I don't see how it didn't occur to you in the first place.

Ya you only run into issues when you try different display options from the same client. I run four accounts; on 2 monitors; one client. Set them all to windowed mode and maximize when you start your sessions up. You will always see the windows start bar but that's not a bad thing. hover over the shortcut/window icons and windows 7 will show you those little mini windows for each of your accounts. Can't be handy somethings.

I also found its wise t always start you sessions up in the same order so you learn where to go quickly without having to read the shortcut.

There are app out there that are supposed to assist but I've never seen the need once I adjusted to window mode.

Actually, I figured this out (or stumbled onto something).

I disconnected the second monitor. Launched the game and set the settings I wanted.

I exited the game and then connected the second monitor and that seemed to work.

I can now have EVE running on the 27" monitor at 1920X1080 and my other monitor simply sitting at a windows desktop where I can see stuff, emails, chat messages, what have you.

Seems to work just fine.

Only thing I see is if I click in the area on the Windows Destkop it minimizes my game window.

But its doable for now.

If you run it in 'fixed window' mode it won't minimize when you select your desktop. Also, you'll probably get a marginally better framerate.

You're doing it the hard way. Either "Window" or "Fixed Window" will be far better than full screen when running multiple monitors. Your game won't auto minimize when you select your desktop then,

I prefer Window. I don't really miss those ~50 pixels across the top anyways.

Windowed mode is what you want. Especially useful when you want to multibox or drag your EVE window over to a different monitor while you focus on something else.

Only downside is on higher resolution monitors such as my 30" running at 2550x1600 the new targetting icons are much harder to read.
