I have been informed of a potential corporate scam about to be pulled on me.

If you were in my situation, what action would you take to deal with the threat? Simply boot out the troublemaker? Or find some way to make them pay... For what they haven't done yet?

If it's the latter, what suggestions do you have about going about this?

I'd go all Ocean's Eleven and figure out a way to make the scam backfire on them.

It all depends upon how much time you want to spend on this person and what options are available to you. At the very least, you need to remove all roles from that character and make sure assets are locked down. After that, you need to answer your questions for yourself.

Proof of intent is enough in some countries. Conspiracy to commit murder is still a crime.

Informed or proved?
I can inform people that plex prices will crash because someone bought 5000 and intend to sell them at 400 mill each, and then I can show that I have the receipt.
One is a rumor lacking substance easily manipulated (seriously do it just after dt on a high volume item and watch the humor)
The other actually means you are not some one's pawn.

The key was PROOF of intent. Not hearsay that someone else say you would do it.

First, I'd protect my stuff.... Move it out of their reach...
Second, I'd look at my intel to determine how reliable it is. If it is extremely reliable, I'd get even via sabotage (blow up their shinies, ruin their Reputation, etc, etc, etc). If it wasn't extremely reliable, I'd confront them with the data and listen to their side. If I'm convinced I cannot trust them, I'd ask them to leave. If I decide I can trust them, I'd only trust them with what I'm willing to lose (<-- although this is my general philosophy for eve).

Some great responses, thanks for taking your time to reply.

The proof is conclusive. I won't go into details till the issue is resolved, because you probably don't want to hear it unless the outcome is spectacular.

Actually.... sweeten the honeypot.

Put out that the corp is close to purchasing XXXXXX fancy expensive item (BPO, faction tower, orca, rorqual, carrier, titan). Something that he would potentially have access to and would therefore be worth waiting out for rather than stripping assets immediately.

Start an ISK drive from corpmates and promise a return on their investment once said item was secured. Be clear about how it will be key to the development of the corporation.

The point of the ISK drive is not to rip off your corpmates but to entice him to invest some of his own money before you blow him up and kick him from corp.

1. He will hopefully hold out for the bigger haul.
2. If he is in it to grief rather than profit then the chance to do even greater damage to your corp by denying your development will be a further goal.
3. Good luck

If you have conclusive proof that he is going to scam the corp..... You have the perfect setup....

Scam the corp before he does.... and then use the "conclusive" proof of his intentions to lay the corp theft on him....

You get off free... and he get's the social reprisals!

I'd say you kill there ship and pod them as much as possible whilst they are in the corp, then also kill and pod the person who told you for being a snitch.
