IDEA: Prototype shuttles for PLEX Promotions.

Heres a question that i would like to ask any everyone:

"If you make a brand new, never-before-seen shuttle for every single PLEX promotion, will your customers be more inclined to buy your promotion during that period? "


MY SPECULATION:
Promotional buyers will be more inclined to purchase the promotion in order to, not only take advantage of the PLEX discount, but also to sell the never-before-seen shuttle to collectors and resellers at a premium.


CONCLUSION:
PROS:
1. CCP Promotional PLEX revenue increases.
2. Demand for the rare shuttles increase -- Customers are more likely to buy the promotion due to the extra isk they can earn from other players.

CON:
1. As with any PLEX promotion, PLEX Investors may suffer a very slight decrease in profit during the promotion.
2. Some people will be madbro because they they think a shuttle is p2w. Lol



Did I miss something? Is this idea much different than the cerebral accelerator?

Shuttles?

Has CCP not learned a damn thing over the last few months about how to create positive hype and excitement?

FFS, if all you get for a "promotional" freebie is a ship we've seen before, then the lesson has been missed.

WHAT should be happening, for promotional freebies, is this:

1) An entirely new ship, with some combat ability, or

2) A chance, say 1 in 50, of each qualifying promotion purchased of getting a truly awesome ship on the level of one of those Alliance Tourny prize ships, or

3) Something entirely random, example: BPC for a pirate Faction POS tower.


CCP, really... you can't afford to drop the ball for even a moment here. After the last few months you should be digging deep into the cookie jar and being uber-cool and IMAGINATIVE with promotional stuff.

Shuttles? Even "rare" ones? Sweet Geebus... does the word "LAME" even translate into Icelandic?

The idea is to hand out combat-useless objects to promo buyers. These items have nothing but artistic / rarity value. If you give promotional purchasers an advantage to the game, then you undermine the entire integrity of what eve has become.

Absolutely not! The ruckus about the Noble Exchange was inflamed by the spectre of (a) advantage being gained by simply spending money, and (b) in-game items in a player-driven economy being created without the involvement of the players.

I'm sorry that you feel a trophy ship is "lame". I still have my Zephyr and Apopheosis and take them out for a spin every now and then just because they look so nice (and the Zephyr is nice for doing a spot of casual not-really-looking-for-anything exploration).

What EvE "has become" is exactly the problem.

"Integrity" went out the cockpit window a long bloody time ago with this company... for a refresher, go back and read the "Greed is Good" newsletter... so don't for one moment assume that such a concept is more valuable to CCP than more subscription revenues.

We've had about half a dozen unique shuttles over the years, none of which have gained any novelty value, actual value or significant player interest. Do you really think people are going to pay for things like that?

On a slightly different note, if you want sparkle ponies, go play another MMO. I like my content dark and spaceship-oriented. Not borderline-ridiculous like WOW.

These shuttles you speak of don't spark interest because everyone has one!! Have you seen the selling price of an interbus shuttle? (looks gallente, but with 5m3 more cargohold)

Besides the specific references you mentioned.. yes i think promo shirts would bring in more income to ccp (not to mention the re-sellers of the promo shirts).

OF COURSE it makes TOTALLY sense to have a UNIQUE ship for EVERY SINGLE PLEX PROMOTION !!

ONE UNIQUE SHIP FOR EVERY PLEX !!

OF COURSE the devs don't have anything better to do than design HUNDREDS of UNIQUE ships all week long ...
