much as I appreciate the rules, in the world of forum moderation if you cant roll with the trolls you should consider a different line of work.

sort of like "don't undock what you can't afford to lose"

Each board abides by its own internal rules and logic. I don't mind that they're different, and appreciate that the ISDs do their level best to keep things open whilst maintaining the local rules.

Yes, discussion is against the rules. But if complaining is discussion, why isn't praise? Inconsistency.

Discussion of moderation would be acceptable if you weren't discussing specific instances. The discussion in this thread, for example, is about the CCL team's work, not about specific actions. If the thread had instead been about a general bias of the moderators against certain characters, that might have been fine too (though if it was true, you'd expect that thread to be shut down just like any thread on the Darkfall forums critical of the publisher).

You have a point, but I think this calls for an experiment, because I for one believe my chances of keeping an "You're doing a terrible job today, ISD" thread open are slim to none.

I was against all the ******** about forum moderation at first, because a lot of the posters were derailing the situation and ruining it for the rest of us for little reason. But forum rules are indeed interpreted quite inconsistently at times, so either CCP abandons their illusions and embrace it, or fix it. OR the ******** continues...

Totally agree with the above.

We have the forum rules very clear, however, what is not so clear is the criteria some moderators use, special when it comes about classified trolling.

I don't share the same opinion about the moderation being great, the way its been done is discouraging people from posting, maybe that’s what the goal with this new change is all about, if it is then I agree its been great.

A forum should be a place where people are free to express their ideas with a civil approach and respect to others, personal attacks and obvious trolling has no place obviously and they are very easy to identify.

Seems to me that what is happening lately is if you post any subject that does not satisfy the moderator doesn't matter if its well written and respecting the rules, gets locked or even worst, gets removed, I've seen many threads with interesting ideas that had the misfortune to being flooded my trolls (there are people here that are organized trolling) and instead of being cleaned it gets locked, it does lead you to believe its not whorted to post again.

As it stands the message you are passing is that some elite may post whatever they so wish that will never be moderated (there's so much bad posting that gets by un-moderated and most of the time is by the so called elite/vip) while at the same time the average unknown walks a thin line and may be considered unworthy material.

In fairness taking everything into consideration, ISD is doing a much better job than some blue tags, lack of impartiality is very obvious all across the forum, not saying its bad and/or wrong, its your forum you do what you like with it.

Hope that what I wrote is not considered breaking the forum rules, it was not my intent to do so, if that is the case I apologize and please remove as has been done in the past.

Best regards.

As a lead in this team, it worries me that you believe this is still the case.

Does it really? I'm worried petitioning would be a waste of my time, even dismissed as another "herp derp ccp censor monkeys" rant. You guys had a good thing going with the moderation discussion thread, just gotta handle the bad posters. The thread was too open-ended maybe, no direction.

Also, I wasn't aware leaving the "-ing" uncensored qualified as partial profanity (*hint hint*), I even went back to censor it myself when I realized the profanity filter missed it.

I believe it is still the case because of almost every locked thread I see. Invariably the reason for locking is that some people start to spew garbage into the thread, derailing it. Then the ISD come along and lock it, which is the ultimate derailment. So the ISD end up doing exactly the same thing as the forum trolls; kill the discussion!

I had to delete another post attacking ISD and CCP. Discussion of forum moderation is against the rules, so you should petition if you have a problem. And saying you petitioned something does not give you reign to then complain about the moderation.

So why wasn't my post worthy of deletion? I was heavily criticising the ISD moderation. Wasn't it enough of an attack? It leaves me wondering what was so bad about the posts you deleted and are now classified secrets.

Reasonable and well-thought out criticism is welcome. Ranting and offering nothing but to say that something sucks is not.

Please guys-- look at the title and complain in a another thread, so it can get locked rather than this one.

Seriously, I'd like to have participated in one thread that didn't get locked this week because (mostly) we didn't behave. Lol

Thanks for gettting rid of that terrible Firearms thread in OOPE, but did it have to take 36 hours from the first sent complaints ?

ISD does a great job, but not necessarily a timely one.

I'm sorry about that - we had to escalate it to CCP.

As has already been mentioned though, please raise a petition if you want to talk about this issue, sorry.

Same creep has started another firearms thread in OOPE a few minutes ago despite the warning yesterday.

When are bans going to actually happen ??

edit 5 mins later: Thanks for the rapid response.

If only to save my own ass (but seriously this needs to be considered), CCP Eterne is right: abrasive, nonconstructive criticism is likely a factor in how forum moderation is applied. If we, "the people" don't cross lines, we are given more legitimacy. With that legitimacy, and with CCP's own desire for transparency, we could ideally get a happy middle-ground. However:

Without discussing specific cases, a certain thread may or may not be offering nothing to say but the opinion that something's good. Sure, good happy joy joy is great for your self-esteem or something, but is it any more constructive than offering an opinion that is nothing more than "something sucks"?

"ranting" and "trolling" are just generic terms applied to things someone would rather not see from what I've witnessed lately

and I can't say that I agree with the assessment many times

but whatever, it does actually catch a few garbage posts

this thread still being open because its discussing moderation

not hard to notice
