What is the point, Forum alts who never log into EVE gaining bounties?

pointless isk-sink much?

No, just give us a 'dislike' button. Hell, just copy reddits style of 'karma' while you're at it

putting bounty on npc alts would making bounties an actual isk sink...

Why are you not prepared to place a bounty on forum alts?

Seeing as how forum posts have often had ramifications in game anyway, I find the potential irony of a bad posting forum alt having the highest bounty in EVE to be quite amusing. CoolCoolCool

Per the subject, we have a LIKE button for posts. Why not allow folks to see the current bounty of a character here on the forums and then add to it?

Of the many big subjects that the CSM is going to be discussing next week at the Summit in Iceland, this is one of those 'little things' that, with enough support, might actually happen in short order. This isn't something that needs or will get a lot of ~Summit time~, it's just an idea that was floated in casual conversation with CCP and I've not seen a single person say it was a bad idea yet. I mean, I can eve mail people out of game, why not show them some lethal affection as well? Twisted

So, thoughts?

A display of current bounty under the portrait? Yes.

If people want to add bounties to the goon-alt-trolls they can do it in game and not have any misclicking/petitioning/technical complexity that comes with a button to place bounties.

We commonly use alts to post, we just have all our alts in GSF along with our mains. NPC corp alt posting is a pubbie thing.

isn't worth it. Trolls already use alts which basically do not play the game. Dislike button... sure why not, but place bounty won't have a big impact. (edit: just use the client for that)

I can't think of anything more calculated to induce me to continue posting with my main.

If getting doomsdayed for my forum posts didn't stop me, 100k bounty is only going to encourage me.

Time to join the cool kids and get a forum alt I guess.

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

They are not the cool kids, they are the inept cowards. Heaven forbid someone discovers their real-life in-game identity.

This seems like a really bad idea to me. This is a forum where you want to encourage people to discuss things with an open mind. Whole point of a forum.

For example, the forum we are in right now: features discussion. this is a place to suggest CHANGES to the game. Changes which will almost always by definition screw up somebody's status quo. And then you want to add a button that encourages people to conveniently punish anybody who suggests a change that might affect them?

That sounds like the one of the most counter productive things I can possibly think of to a free and productive flow of ideas. Basically sounds like the result of asking "Oh hey, how can we make it so that nobody ever suggests any avante garde, feather-ruffling new game design ideas ever again?"

The same problem exists for any other subforum where you want any serious discussion of actual thoughts, and not just people shooting the breeze about the weather.

PLUS, It wouldn't even work anyway. If implemented, anybody who posts on the forums under their main character's name would simply log onto a forum alt character instead and continue on, not worrying about their bounties, because they would never be collected...

Which means nothing is accomplished other than annoying everybody and forcing us all to re-learn all of the other regulars' identities before we can recognize common posters again (and making it that much more difficult to figure out who is an experienced player and who isn't)

tl;dr:
1) Doesn't result in any useful bounties, since people will just use forum alts
2) Doesn't give you useful info about who PLACED a bounty on you either, since it's probably also a forum alt
3) Obscures useful information about posters due to them now using forum alts
4) Dampens productive and honest arguments and discussions in the subforums where serious things are supposed to be discussed (like this one).

Nah, it's ok. Very, very, very little useful discussion occurs in these forums anyway, and it has been like this for as long as I remember them. Might as well make it official and let the trolls be an ISK sink. :)

If this stupid idea goes through then there should also be a "give isk" option. There are actually people that do productive things for the game and also people that provide good info and I for one would not mind tipping those helpful people.
