Just a quick thread to list various postings / blogs by CSM members about the WInter Summit.

Here's my first one: http://treborofthecsm.blogspot.com/2012/12/winter-summit-quick-wrapup.html

I typically do a two part summit wrap up within a few weeks of returning from Iceland and may still do so this year, but right now my focus (along with the rest of the CSM) is in getting the official minutes done ASAP.

Yes, just to make it absolutely clear: the CSM has committed to getting as much of the minutes as possible drafted, reviewed, and published by the end of the year. There is a lot of stuff in them that we very much want community feedback about ASAP.

So will the minutes be released all together or meeting by meeting when they are approved?

It really depends on the speed we can get them done and approved. I would prefer to release them together near the end of the year, but if there are a few sessions CCP holds onto too long, then we won't hold up everything else due to that.

What about Trebor's mention of player's feedback ASAP? Will that mean early release of some sessions?

It would be cool to have them all at once, but the time needed like the last time makes it a bit hard. Plus Trebor's teasing hurts as well.

Unless the feedback wanted is how do albino eyebrows look on EVE avatars. Amazing!

Anything about 2/10 lowsec static plexes removal? Anybody even dared to ask and demand answer? Because you know, there's 11 pages thread in Features & Ideas where lowsec pvp crowd is waiting for any kind of response from CCP. So, what gives?

I certainly dared, bringing it up as often as possible with as many people as possible. I was quite clear about how many players this has upset and the PvP value that has been removed from lowsec with little explanation.

Unfortunately, what I heard in return was NOT satisfying in the least. That being said, I also didn't get a chance to speak to the developer who was working on this change in particular. (Not everyone was around). So while I heard a vague explanation for the change, I'm certainly still trying to investigate this further.

Keep up the feedback in your thread, and keep asking for communication from CCP on this matter. I will do the same. It's only fair that they come out and give an honest answer to the community's questions.

Can we make the minutes into several smaller reports

Several reasons
1. Allow us the chew on something quick as the CSM and CCP continue to work on the other points
2. Allow the Pod casters to go into depth into the individual subjects over several Pod casts instead of a quick summary of the complete work.
3. It serves the need for information quickly, but also serves the desire for in depth minutes
4. Positive CSM Marketing: will make the CSM look like they are completing lots of stuff . It's the little things
5. Many video game players suffer from A.D.D. and the large wall of text will only be readable by the true Spread Sheet warriors form eve's early days. Please present them in timely small blogs.
6. Because I am the MIGHTY GEVLIN, and this is what I command, and if you don't I will make several empty threats about quitting the game, and then forget all about it in 2 weeks after some newb Powns my butt in null-sec because I was Afk Ratting in my Carrier.

Someday I will have the time to play. For now it is mining afk in High sec. In Cheap ships

I don't know if this will be a good format for this summit. Frankly, there's some messaging CCP should release before the minutes land, to help put them into context. This was an unusual summit in that it was not about the -what- as much as the why, the who, and the how. Those thirsty for concrete details about what is coming in the summer expansion will be disappointed, those wanting to see that CCP has its head screwed on straight and has an actual plan when it comes to how to build interesting releases over the coming years will be quite interested in the content this time around.

That being said, releasing sessions one or a few at a time, without an overall introduction from CCP themselves, would be destructive in my opinion. I agree with Seleene, the bulk of the minutes need to be released at the same time if at all possible. We're already transcribing away at record speed so players shouldn't have to wait anywhere near as long as they did before.

As to your concerns - like I said speed shouldnt be an issue here, the rest is a matter of how the user chooses to digest the body of work. Podcasters have the choice to digest it section by section if they like, our release schedule wont dictate that. Same with those reading the minutes. If they're released all at once, simply sit down a session or two at a time to work through it if you're an A.D.D. sufferer. Lastly, I really could give no ****'s about the CSM's image in the meantime. I'm quite proud of the work done at the summit, i'm quite proud of the CSM's collective "minutes madness" that is underway, and really don't care if a few people whine along the way while we take a week or so to do this properly. We need constructive dialogue from these, not panic because a missing piece of a conversation is buried in a session that isn't released yet.

^ So your saying that Greyscale was present at the summit the whole time. ( I kid, I kid)

I am gonna go ahead and read this as CCP testing themselves to see what the company structure and themselves are at too see if Jesus features are feasible again. Or they are seeing how big a feature can get before they break under the stress from it.

They want to see the size of features they can release before they decided on what to release. As in is the company able or in the place to release a big feature, or can the company only handle small to medium features, without breaking.

Will be interesting to see at what size they are able to handle. Then compare that to the size players want for POS revamps and ship rebalancing or whatever.

I wish they were able to handle the drone and lvl 4s issues better. Would give me better hope at them handling larger feature releases and such.

Without reading the minutes, will just go ahead and assume they are at the small to medium level for features, based on that. But who knows, at least its still fun in a way.

Would it be possible to get a list of sessions, who is writing them up, and the current status of each?

No, that would take time away from writing the minutes. There will be a credit at the bottom of the finished product though.

Sorry to contradict my chairman, but I am updating this post with the status of the minutes as they are submitted to CCP. I'm not going to bother updating it with who is working on each session, since that sometimes changes, but once a session is submitted to CCP I will be updating it with the author of that session.

I am hoping that we should have more than half the sessions done this week, but we are running up against CCP's (and the CSM's) Christmas vacation limits. My best guess ETA would be around January 4th, though they might slip a week or so.
