Hello,

I've been flying a domi for a while now, I'm working on my core fitting skills right now, and I have about 5 mil in drones, 1.2 mil in mechanics, battleship to 4, adv weapons to 2, and gunnery in general to about 1.3 mil. Should I start branching out to T2 guns or should I max out my navigation, spaceship command, or continue on my drone skills?

I was also wondering if I should branch out to an ishtar or a proteus? Any suggestions would be welcome. I tend to run lvl4 missions or hang out in a C2 wormhole.

It seems that you have invested quite a bit into drones, which is great! I would say that you could go for T2 mediums and move into a Proteus if you'd like. I would suggest you max out the 'subs' skills and have no support skill less than 4. If you want to stay drone heavy, Ishtar/Domi are great, and I'd train utilities like Nuets/RR/SB's/Xfer... Highs that will support your drone compliment and/or make you more aggressive.

I would also suggest you ask your corp what they think would help you to support fleet ops, if you guys do that sort of thing? There are more options, I'm sure, and I'd imagine others can provide more avenues for ya, Nox. Fly safe!

As the OP has invested in drones, as odd as it might seem at first blush, you may want to look at the Amarr drone boats like the Recons (Curse & Pilgrim).

Of course you could also consider a Gallente HIC, HAC, or Recon.

In general, I always recommend spending lots of training points in medium-sized hulls & weapons, as that is the largest category of ships in EVE.

I wrote up a big long explanation on why the Proteus is a gimped drone ship, but decided not to rehash that argument. Suffice to say, if drone-boat missions in high sec are your thing, the Proteus will be a serious step down. You would do better sticking with a Navy Domi issue or moving to an Ishtar or Rattlesnake.

Now if you are looking to PVP in WH space, the Proteus can be scary indeed.

with gunnery skills the Ndomi is a HUGE step up, and of the drone battleships it will be only one viable after the terrible NPC ai changes on next patch.

the rattlesnake stinks. it can only sit there taking punches. it wont die, but with he AI changes you will spend the whole mission pulling dones in and out. with the ndomi, you can sit at max range and snipe with rails and sentries and even if the sentries get agro the distance will give you a few minutes before you have to reposition.

Depends what you're mapped for.

If you're mapped intel/memory, you want to make sure you have drone interfacing to V, have T2 heavies and sentries and have your mechanic and engineering skills up to scratch.

If you're mapped perception/willpower then you will want to get your gunnery and spaceship command skills up. Ideally to the point where you have T2 large hybrids, plus all the gunnery support skills to V. Then think about training Gal BS V or Gal Cruiser V and going for a HAC.

Thanks for the help. Short term I'll work on the ishtar and work myself into the Rattlesnake when I have the prerequisite skills. Thanks
