Hey,

I'm coming back to eve after a very long hiatus.

I need advice in what to train next to do well in modern/current pvp

I've never carebeared, and never made much isk pvping, so please tailor your advice to a somewhat cheap (isk wise) playstyle (as far as ships/modules/fittings/etc)

I guess I'm missing the pills/drugs you can take, and possibly some new ship types...but yet again please tailor advice to cheap pvp.

Also, feel free to give me general advice about coming back to the game , besides skills. thanks

your skills are pretty solid at first glance. take a look at all the freshly buffed t1 frigates and cruisers. also, there are now rocket/light missile based destroyers that seem to perform well.
if i were you, i'd probably branch out into other races. while minmatar still has some decent hulls, the other races have caught up,too. by being able to fly all races' ships, you gain the advantage of always being able to pick the optimal hull for the job.

I should buy an Ishtar.

The first thing you should train is all racial frigs to 4, all racial cruisers to 3, and then destroyers to 5.

CCP is rolling out a change that is going to split destroyers and BC into racial groups making you need to train all of them up. If you have those skills trained right now you will automatically get all your racial BC 5, and destroyers 5 when the change happens "soon".

CCP Fozzie even came out and said something to the tune of "these should be the next skills you plug into your skill queue".

Thanks, i actually received that information about an hour after posting this thread from another source, but yes that is very important.

I don't actually have the client up yet (my PC isn't available for about 2 weeks, and my laptop, a Mac is having issues installing, posted a petition), so I haven't had the chance to look into what I've been told exists:

skill point refund (for all my Learning Skills)

If that's easy to use, I was planning on putting those refunded points towards what you talk about for BC/Destroyers

Refunded points are excessively easy to use, and I highly suggest to put them into the frigs 4, cruisers 3, and destroyers 5.

Train T3 skills. Highly recommended.

You might also have some Social skill points that have been reimbursed.

And I dunno if there were remapable attributes when you were last here, but:
There is a bit of calculated thinking as to how you use those skill points. You should probably 'train' the fast frigate skills asap and apply skill points to any unfinished area's right at the end of December.
There were multiple threads on efficiency and strategy for applying them.
EG:
Apply them to skills you are not mapped for. Essentially saveing MORE time than if you had applied them to 'fast training' skill sets.
Save some, Apply some
Apply them to Long skills, such as BS V, Carrier V, Fighters V, etc. (just examples)
T3 loss also causes sp loss. Save some for T3 loss's.

You get the picture, which is basicly, think it out.

The other posters mentioned Destroyer and Frigate skills. Again, these should be tops on a priority list.

Yes. Nice character training so far.

Which ones are those? also, will the be viable for someone with low isk income?

I don't really understand this part.

Proteus, Tengu, Legion, and Loki. Great ships but not for low income.

T3s depend on a whole slew of skills. There are the racial ship skills (rank 5), but each ship also has five subsystem skills (rank 1) that provide your ship bonuses. When you lose a T3, you lose one level of a random subsystem skill. Keeping your unallocated skill points around to immediately get back up to full bonuses is generally a good idea.

Thanks Zhilia,

very informative, although I don't think I'll be using much T3 anytime soon, I'm not that versed in acquiring isk
