Disabling the clouds in anomalies/signatures/missions

Please add an option to disable clouds. My laptop I play on has a decent GPU and CPU in it but the clouds just kill my FPS. I can get 50-60 FPS anywhere with all settings at high. However the second I get into one of those clouds even on the lowest settings everything disabled my FPS drops to about 10-5.

I understand the art team works hard on things and I know a big graphics revamp was done but please. Its unfair to make people have to deal with resource sucking clouds that could easily be disabled by a simple toggle in the options. I really want to enjoy the new swing camera and to actually see my ship in space but with the clouds no matter how low I go I flat out can't. I'd love to get a new computer with like 2000$ graphics cards and multiple quad core CPUs but I just don't have the money for one at this time.

As far as I know CCP is aware of this, they removed all the clouds in the new hacking/arch sites, as well as the old ones, so I imagine its just a matter of time and going around to do them all.

"Removed all clouds from the Hacking and Archaeology sites to resolve the FPS issues."

and from 1.0.7.

" We have removed the clouds from the Central Guristas Transmitter site
We have removed the clouds from the Central Angel Survey site."

So, patience Eyago, patience.

This comes up every so often on various forums around here, its a great idea but CCP has said no or completely ignored it in the past. Something about making the art department cry.

I for one would love to be able to turn off many of the space cloud effects or brighten the rest of space, or change the text colors to be dynamic to backgrounds lots of things.

Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

I have wondered how much work it would be to just have a button that forced say "wireframe" mode or something like that.

I mean, as far as real mechanics, it would just be a custom visualization from the onboard computer, turning every object that it can see and scan, think of it as the difference between a google maps view of the streets compared to a satellite picture ... what we are trying to see is the tactical info, and we don't care/dont want a superbright sun or cloud blocking everything.

The engine already draws everything, and theres lots of options to turn down that detail, so why not adda button IN GAME that basically is a custom much-lower-detail-with-a-twist and call it "tactical"

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

god iu guess its too ******* much to ask for the ******* assholes to remove the goddamn clouds... im running on a brand new i7 and a 7970 graphics card and those stupid clouds in mission areas even bog my computer down to 20 frames

Agreed - Clouds at noms need a rework or go away.

I have a pretty beefy computer and even it has a slight hick-up with these things. Not to mention they are just too bright.

Yeah, I have a pretty decent system and I still get a slight frame drop around these assets. I agree that they're too bright as well. Just yesterday I was running an L4 and couldn't see some UI elements because of the intense cloud brightness. Furthermore, the distribution and texture detail on a majority of cloud assets is downright ugly.

Oh yes, it would improve my fps more than making my spaceships ugly in the setting, and I'd also like the result more as well, even aesthetically.
Since you know, playing this game for the internet spaceship, as opposed to shiny clouds.

"We want PvE activities to require active participation and mirror PvP more closely." Stacking penalty for NPC EWAR then? Lock range under 9km from over 100 in a BS is not fun. Nor is two NPC web drones making me crawl 10m/s. PvP SW-900 x5: 75m/s.

I can play 3 chars on allmost high details without heavy lags, but when I entered the second pocket of the "Recon" mission, the framerate drops down to a slide show. They need a serious performance revamp or a disable-checkbox!

Signed

There's clouds in several missions that need to go away. Guristas side of WC comes to mind... And The Blockade

Sending this to the top as I'm tired of having FPS drop to nothing when I'm in an anom, unless I'm zoomed all the way out.

Have anyone tried a bug-report?

The only time I've reported these assets with a bug report was when they were appearing over certain effects. That issue has been resolved in the current expansion, however.

Now we have other fish to fry.

I've agreed to this in several other older posts regarding this and still stand by it. At least a toggle function, hell we can turn engine trails off for **** sake but trails don't murder your fps like clouds do, and you can't even see very well at all with some of them.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

I've got a Core i5 3570K and a GTX 670... The game normally runs at 60fps constant, but in missions with certain types of cloud/gas/fog, it slows down to 20fps!

These effects are very crude, and very unoptimized.
