Always send to the toon your buying NEVER their alts incase of scamming and yes you mail them your account name (the one you use to log into the account) obviously DONT send your password.

Post an offer in the sale thread. If you evemail an offer, post in the thread. If you reach an agreement via evemail, post in the thread. If you so much as sneeze, post in the thread. Get it? The thread counts as a sale record and it makes the GMs' jobs easier if something goes wrong. When the seller posts "I am selling xxx to Orflarg Kridvidius for X billion ISK," confirm in a reply with their post quoted. Give the seller the username (not a name of a character, the username) of the account you want the character transferred to and send the agreed upon ISK amount to the character being sold. When the seller transfers the character, you will both receive an e-mail to the email address associated with your EVE accounts.

Please add that in game bidding offers be removed, if they can bid ingame they can log on and post in the forum, how do we know that the guy isnt just upping the bid because he wants too, also bidding on a toon with the alt of said toon is also messed up, in fact its ****** up and completely illegal...

Is this correct ?

If we go for using 2 plexes (kinda expensive, it's 50% above the cash payment), where do they have to be? On the toon being transferred?

Edit: Never mind. we got it. The two plexes have to be in the redeemable items of the account selling the character. Makes sense.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GIVE OUT YOUR PASSWORD TO ANYONE IN EVE.

They will require your ACCOUNT name only, eg, the account name of where the character will be transferred to.
Make sure that you confirm sale on the sale thread. If he is asking for password, HE IS SCAMMING YOU.
Report it to a gm, as that character is in breach of the rules for selling characters.

pretty sure there is a eve resourse thread on account securtiy etc by the eve gm's, have a read.

good luck

:). Just like ebay mate

when you are buying a character, do a little research on what similar skilled ones have been selling for to set a precedent.
I would hesitate a guess that probalby 1/3 of the bidds in all these char for sale threads are alts, or corp mates and friends "bumping" the thread, as well as dummy bidding.

just spend 1h our your time researching, could save you many billions of isk, put your offer up that you are willing to pay, and get ready for the "2nd chance offer" evemail you will recieve in evemail because "the buyer didnt come through".

I am trying to understand how the "seller" works and the actual payment of the transfer. That guide is vague and rather dated. It states...

Quote:
Questions & Answers

Q) WTF? What do I do? What do i check?
A) If you are selling a character for isk, you should first check your account management options;
https://secure.eve-online.com/login.aspx

My account >> Account services >> Transfer Character

Check the forms of payment you can use to pay for the transfer.

Remember the seller always pays the transfer fee.

If you cannot pay, you cannot trade, its that simple.

If you click on the link provided to the account page, you then enter you account manager and select "Character Transfer" from the pulldown and you are then prompted to select the character and the destination. Ok, then it ends with a "NEXT" button. It says nothing about the payment options and what is expected.

There is another attempted explanation in the EVElopedia - Character Transfer. It states...

Quote:
4. Fill in the details on the page, select the character and destination account and enter your payment details, etc.

5. When you are done, click on "Next" and a confirmation page should be presented to you if the payment was successful.

There is no "payment details, etc." on that page.

I then read in This Sticky...

Quote:
5. Do you have the PLEX for the character transfer in the redeeming system on your account?
Issue:
The 2x PLEX (if you intend to pay for the transfer with PLEX) should be in the redeeming system on your account. To reverse redeem a PLEX, right click on it and choose "reverse redeem". This will then place the PLEX in the redeeming system on your account and usable for character transfer.

Now, to ensure I have this straight...so far.

1. Reverse transfer 2 PLEX so they show up in the redeeming system on your account.
2. Go to your account manager and select "Character Transfer".
3. Select the character and the destination.
4. Click "Next".
5. On the following page, I assume you enter something here about payment?

Spitfire, I have a Question... Looking at your rule list here I don't see a "Rule 23" but these forum mods you guys assigned seem to be making up rules as they go along... I had ISD Type40 block my post Indefinitely due to this new rule 23 that is NOT on your list? I've heard a TUN of complaints in the game about this guy Bullying people on a constant basis and never thought it would happen to me until I saw this:

23. Reopening a locked thread by creating a new one is not allowed.

Recreating or reopening a thread that has been closed by a moderator is prohibited. Threads that have been closed by a moderator have been closed for the benefit of the community. Reopening a locked thread will result in its removal.

Thread is locked for breaching the above rule. Your original thread will unlock after 24 hours as long as you have moved into an NPC corp. - ISD Type40.

I'm inclined to try to be the bigger person but I've also heard that this forum mod seems to be one of the reasons so many players are leaving EvE (such as myself). If I wanted to be bullied by forum mods I'd go play WoW or something. I just wanted to make sure this was ok with CCP for their forum mods to do. thank you for your time.

CCP Spitfire wrote:
In an effort to reduce the amount of character scams, GM workload and player frustration, the following changes are being made to the announcements concerning character sales or auctions for ISK. No other form of trade is sanctioned or supported.

  1. The 'For Sale/Auction' post must be made by the character being offered. This is being added to prevent scams for characters that have been misrepresented, banned, non-existent, etc. An exception to this rule is if multiple characters are being offered by the same person. You are allowed to include the selling information for all characters in a single thread provided that you prove your ownership of the characters by having them confirm the sales in the thread. All other rules apply normally to the character sale.

  2. You must disclose whether or not the character being sold has a negative balance in its wallet and the amount.

  3. The character being sold must receive the ISK for the purchase and only ISK. Characters may not be sold in exchange for items.

  4. The sell post must reflect the character correctly, posting that the character you're selling has more skillpoints or ISK than it actually has is a bannable offence.

  5. Items cannot be listed among the character's valuable assets, only skills, implants and reputation. You are buying/selling the character ONLY and nothing else. Ships and items can be readily bought on the market for ISK.

  6. You may only bump threads ONCE Per day. Date is determined by the date on the forum, not the date where you live. See this guide for more information on bumping.

  7. The new owner of the character may NOT pass himself off as any previous owner.

  8. The character for sale must be from an active account, you cannot trade characters from inactive accounts.

  9. The character being sold must be in an NPC corporation at the time of posting.

  10. The character being sold must be older than 14 days old to avoid accidental transfers.

  11. The selling of accounts is prohibited, characters may only be sold individually.

  12. The owner of the character being sold is responsible for the character transfer fee paid to CCP.

  13. Prior to leaving a corporation, the character to be sold MUST send a corp-wide EVE mail stating that they are going to be sold and will be leaving for an NPC corporation.

  14. When a character is sold, please modify the topic title to reflect this to help other forum patrons know what characters are still available.

  15. Lottery style sales are not permitted. Auctions and buyouts are the appropriate method for selling a character.

  16. All scams involving character transfers are prohibited.

  17. Whenever a character is transferred before the seller has moved the ISK received from the sale to another one of their characters, the Customer Support team will return that ISK to the rightful owner. The buyer cannot expect to receive both the character and the ISK that they paid to purchase it.

  18. CCP Fallout talks about the 10 hour character transfer delay.

  19. Down-payment plans are not supported by CCP Customer Support. As a seller, you are agreeing to a certain amount of ISK only, which is to be paid in one payment. Once again, any forms of scams regarding character sales is prohibited.

  20. All skill training must be paused before transferring the character.

  21. The location of the character must be disclosed and whether it is in high security, low security, null sec or wormhole space. You must also state if the character is in space or in a station.

  22. Accounts can only be involved in one character transfer at a time. If either the sending or the receiving account have an ongoing character transfer, other transfer attempts will fail.

These changes are effective immediately. Posts made after this announcement will be edited with a link to this thread or deleted without notification.

Please post below with any rule change, new rule submission or resource you feel useful for fellow players or something you want to bring to our attention.

Agreements on the forums or in game, or winning an auction does not guarantee a character will be transferred to you. The seller may choose to renege on a deal at any time, prior to the transaction being completed

I have to agree with you Tharanor, these forum mods are power hungry *enter curse word here*'s. I've seen some ridiculous stuff especially what seems as forum mod "holier than thou" type mentality i'd only expect from a WoW forum or IGN. When forum mods start making rules up as they go along is when I think CCP needs to pull their leash a little back and put them in their place. They are "guard dogs" for a reason, not to bite everyone that posts on the forums... but to keep things civil and bite only when things get out of hand. The mods on these forums seem to be playing the "promotion" card where they leave some people that "Troll" and probe character resales but then dive bomb and "Lock Threads" on people that may undercut their character sales or may be competitive. It just all seems corrupt to me.

I have a question regarding the 17th point on the original post in this thread.

I forgot to transfer the ISK that was payed to me for the character I am selling to my main character.
I realized this almost immediately and had a pseudo-heart attack.

My question is what do I need to do (if anything) to make sure that the ISK on the character (that is currently being transferred and not accessible) is sent to my main character?

Thanks in advance.

Are you allowed to make multiple threads selling the same character? Coz there's someone doing that.
