Edit* I should premise this question stating that I am really enjoying eve and I would like to get into the game long term. I know I cant pay for a plex for multiple accounts at this time, but I am willing to fork over the extra few dollars to get some accounts rolling and skilled up so that when I can finance the isk for the plex, I wont be wishing I had leveled up some additional accounts.

I am currently running level 4 missions with this character and I am to the point where I can do them fairly decently. I have another account that is focusing on mining/industry and he is almost into a hulk (3 more days). I am currently just mining while I run missions to gain some extra income.

Question is regarding using multiple accounts for profit...should I perhaps be focusing the mining character on skills to pve mission run so I can take two ships into a mission? Is that something that is even recommended or should I just keep on focusing on the industry side of things.

I always like the looks and ideas of new ships. I am currently caldari/minmatar BS trained on this character and they are both running shield tanks. Would it be a good idea to skill up the other guy to be an amarr/gallente ( I think the legion looks sick, and like the idea of gallente drone boats) armor character or if I have the ability should I just do that with three accounts, or cross train this one to do both armor and shields?

The fastest way to make him useful would be skilling a tengu.

After that, you can look into nightmare/machariel/etc on both accounts.

Though, a domi/rattlesnake/navy domi "helper" is nice for the lazy.

I'm lazy, for target rich environments I take in a Domi, agroo the room, loose the drones, then bring in my Drake and snipe them down. Between the two the Drones/Drake rarely get scratched and it's over pretty quickly.

Set domi sentries to assist other gunboat char for extra dps. Minimal alt-tab needed.

Another question would be. If you were starting out and had 3 characters to skill up....what would you do?

2 droneboats, a gunboat, datacore farming skills for passive income, and then whatever else you want to train for fun.

I mission and run plexes / sleeper sites etc with two DPS characters. Usually a rattlesnake and tengu for hisec / w-space, or a pair of tengu if it's nullsec / lowsec.

For tough w-space and PvP-play I usually also have a third toon running maxed-out fleet boosts.

My best DPS-deliverer is also my orca / mining-boost pilot, so when we go mining / harvesting he's still able to be useful. My best miner swaps to fleet booster when it's non-mining ops.

Others take utility roles ... salvage / hack / crack, scanner, R&D missions, invention / RE / manufacturing. Options as endless as your imagination, desire, and resources.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

Don't hesitate to use your 3 character slots per account to it's full potential as well.

For example you could have a trade-hub alt on a side-slot with Trade/Retail, Accounting and Broker Relations on 4 who is running your selling business in a trade-hub. Give him Minmatar Industrial 4 and he's even a good small-scale hauler. All those skills just take a relatively small amount of time off your main's skill-plan but gives you so much more flexibility.

Think on a larger scale (3 accounts like you say) and you have PI alts (each 5 extra planets) or fast and cheap scanning alts (Cloaking 1, Astrometrics 3).

There are lots of options for how to use multiple accounts in missions. Lots of the ideas so far work well. The basic idea of having one be a tank/some dps and the other be pure dps is probably the most common way to do it.

Another consideraton is having one ship that is better at killing bs's and the other optimized for killing frigates and cruisers. In a lot of missions a battlecruiser and a battleship will clear it faster than two battleships do because the bc can hit the frigates more easily. For a while I used to run l4s with a passive tanked myrmidon warping in first to get most the agro, then having a maelstrom warp in second without much tank on it. The myrmidon would clean up the frigs and cruisers while the maelstrom cleared the battleships. Having your tank be a drone boat is nice because you don't really need to pay that much attention for them to keep killing stuff and sometimes when you're dual boxing your ability to pay attention to both gets a little strained. And it doesn't really matter if it gets ECM'd.

Another approach is to make the primary account dps, the secondary account a logistics and salvager. The primary can free up slots for dps mods because he doesn't need to tank so much if the logistics ship is repping him, and the logistics can fly around salvaging and looting while the primary is killing. It has to be a logistics though for that to work because you need to extra range for the reppers if you're going to be flying around to grab wrecks. You need to be careful that your logistics doesn't get much agro though.

train for a dominix and you can make it a salvager/logi, pure dps, cap transfer... its an amazing alt ship.

Excuse me, but what the f*ck are you desu?

I was doing Domi/Rattlesnake for awhile, both having tech 2 sentries with a handfull of hob 2's. Garde/Curator/Bouncer

It worked really well but kind of sucked for the really close range missions such as Angel Extravaganza. Ended up buying a blaster boat for those missions. However for the ones where it was all medium-long range the sentries would tear through them in no time.

If you're going to be doing a lot of lvl 4's though I recommend you to train into salvaging on a account and get a Noctis, it's a great investment unless you're gonna blitz ofc.

I'm curious if both characters get a faction increase just for doing the missions. Or is it just the main character doing the mission turn in?

You get corp standing for a regular mission, and both characters get it if you chose to turn it for the fleet - otherwise you can keep it all for the mission originator if you like. You can do the same with storylines for faction standing.

Just a note here. A Domi will out DPS a Rattlesnake (And a fleet issue Domi) when using sentry damage only due to the Domi's ability to sport 2x Sentry Damage rigs vs only 1 with the other ships.

I think I will go the domi route. My current second account will be covetor ready in a couple hours (i know its only a few more days to a hulk but I told my self I wouldnt buy a hulk on this account until I mined enough in a covetor to pay for one) so I will turn this guy into a domi pilot that can mine on the side. Then he can run missions with me and my Raven/mael pilot.

That make sense or am I crazy?

Right now I use a Golem/Rattlesnake/Macharial/Noctis with 4 accounts and a 5th is my off grid T3 booster in a Tengu.

A few years ago I was using a CNR/Domi and really you can't go wrong with Dominix for the second ship. It is one of the most versatile ships in the game.

Just a minor correction here, The faction standings for "important storyline" missions, It is actually not shareable. Indeed the option is there but it doesn't work and always gives all the standings to the mission pilot. It's worked like this since late '09 and I believe was a stealth change.

I use a pair of matched Maels with 1400's. Both have same tank so I can use either one to draw agro. While I won't say they are as fast as some of the other's listed here, for the isk invested they do a decent job of getting a mission done. If the npc's tend to come in close I fly them away from each other so the non-agro'd ship gets the range where the 1400's are effective. I do a couple of missions then come back with the noctus (which each acct. can use) and vacuum up the salvage/loot.

I have found a tengu/BS to be a good combo. The Tengu with 6 launchers and 3 CN BCS's is also my tank and the BS has minimal tank and max gank. My second uses a NM. I warp into mission with tengu, draw full room agro and shoot cruisers then bs then frigs in the tengu, the NM starts with BS and works its way down and the hob's work on the frigs. The tengu has just over 1k omni tank and is cap stable so I don't worry too much about it. Took a bit of time to get used to it as there is rarely a spare moment as things just blow up.
