Remove fleet/gang warps.

If you group isn't skilled enough to work as a team, you shouldn't get the benefit of everyone leaving or arriving on grid at the same time.

That works for me, however, again, lag is a lot of the reason why this could be problamatic

looks good, however, if you look at my google doc, you'll see more what i'm looking for.

The broadcasts, watchlists, fleet members, and their ship would all be combined into one tab, and the broadcast options would be there as well.

Sorry, I haven't checked your google document earlier.

Here is another mockup image, this time, with all features gathered on the same tab, a bit like the Overview.
http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/948445MyFleet.png

Indeed, the whole Fleet window could look like the Overview window.

But there is a missing feature on the Overview window : a horizontal scrollbar. I have never understood why CCP hasn't added it yet. There are many informations (columns) displayed on the Overview window and it's the same for this new Fleet window (mockup)..

For players who like to see all columns, there could be a horizontal scrollbar...
For players who want a compact fleet window : as you suggested, there could be options to choose which columns to display.

Note that this new fleet window doesn't show all targets. but only broadcasts.

Joe Risalo wrote:

Now, the fleet roles, distance from you, and ready checks can stay on a seperate tab.

As far as fleet members' targets...Well, some players, like logi's or ewar may have more than one target, so this may not work..

I think it would look weird to display them on another tab.

That works for me, as long as the columns can be organized in a manner that best suits the players and/or they can be removed.

I literally just had the idea of a "Ready Up/X Up" lights system for Fleets, to replace the current "X up" spam in chat. Searched Features & Ideas, found this thread, and saw -

Broadcast when ready. Fleet "in the green" as it were.

I support this wholeheartedly and really want to see this implemented during the next iteration of Fleets and Fleet UI. The mockups in this thread are excellent, too.

tnx for the support.

If there's anymore advice you, or anyone can give that Taliah Meyhin and I haven't thought of, then feel free to mention them.

Before you came up with the idea of a 'Status' column (with options like 'Ready', 'En route', 'Busy', etc.), I thought a simple 'light' system would work best with the fleet hierarchy view - FC calls for 'group ready', resetting all pilots' status to Red. A pilot can toggle their own status from Red to Green and back at will. If all of a squad's members are marked as Green, then the squad itself is marked as Green. I even thought that having these Red/Green status lights as an X would work best, as it would fit with the existing 'X up' lingo. However, I suppose the same thing could be done with the status flags. If every member of a squad is Ready, then the squad itself is listed as Ready, and likewise with all the other major statuses - if the statuses are mixed, either the squad shouldn't have a status listed, or it should show the lowest-available status (ie. if one guy is Busy, the entire squad is considered Busy). Commanders would have the ability to clear the last reported status of everyone under them in the hierarchy.

It's worth noting that the Fleet Composition window already automatically mentions if a pilot is docked, in the place of their ship type, so perhaps 'Docked' and 'In Warp' should be automatic statuses. 'Down' doesn't really need a status - if their Ship Type says Capsule, or they've changed system and appear as 'Docked', it's fairly obvious what has happened to them.

Essentially, the Fleet Composition sub-window and the watch-list need to be integrated into the Fleet Hierarchy window as a singular Fleet Operations & Command window. I notice that the current mockup doesn't show or respect hierarchy of squads, wings and fleets, which would be ideal, but would play havoc with the nice table formatting. If either Taliah or you can find a nice way to incorporate the hierarchical view, that would make it perfect and ready to present to CCP. I hope this is on their agenda, as the next wave of balance changes are coming to Battlecruisers and Command Ships, which inevitably means an overhaul of Warfare Links and Fleets.

Taliah had this
http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/948445MyFleet.png

However, I'm not sure that I like so many tabs.
I'm wondering if the Hierarchy couldn't be incorporated into the name of the fleet members. Either above their names with small icons, or perhaps a greyed backlay with this information.

As you can see, the mockup shows a horizontal scrollbar for those who want many informations (many columns) and there could also be another option to choose which columns to display.

and of course the broadcast options would be listed either at the top or bottom of the display.

Well, Fozzie read the initial OP before I changed it, but who knows now....

I like the mockups, lots of relevant info at your fingertips. Shuffling the boosts and structure info to another tab would be good as it is all passive and relatively unchanging.

Maybe add a light to each squad to see if / when they loose boosts would be good too.

I didn't read what Fozzie was talking about, I'm assuming it was some way to mass-control a fleet from the top down, which I wouldn't be for.

However, I wholeheartedly support combining information into the single fleet window, or even revamp the overview to include this type of functionality with multiple open tabs, etc...

Also, I'd like the ability to drag people between squads, and for some reason, moving squad leaders out of squads gets them stuck in a perma-session change.

Also, moving people while they have a session change timer always results in it not working and I have to do it again, can't it just stack the command at the end of the current session change?

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

dragging and dropping fleet members into new fleets would be nice

You'd figure more people would have a say so on this as a new UI feature.
