Leffy Skaramour of the nice folks at Suddenly Ninjas doesn't honor his ransoms, and I was even lucky enough to get invited to their very own ransom chan in game, which clearly states all ransoms will be honored. So, be mindful.

Suddenly Scammed ;-)

To be fair, their MOTD in their ransom channel says all ransoms honored, and if you have any complaints to take it up with
their CEO. I've sent him a mail, so we shall see. Not happy to have lost a 1bil ship and fitt, but we shall see.

lol so let me get this straight, your in low sec getting pvp'd and you lose your ship that your not happy about losing, then you lose your pod after paying a ransom.

And all this takes place in low sec.

So lets put this into context - This was not in 0.0, this was in 0.8 in a level 4 mission.
Next, leffy warps in and flags himself by looting from one of my wrecks.

So I see a lone stabber, thinking he's just going to ninja salvage.
Wrong. Once I aggress him, here come his buddies in logistics to repair him as I get neuts and scram

I'm the victim, so im not blanking out my own name
2012.12.12 21:56:00

So this was a Billion ISK fit. Am I mad that I lost it? Sure. What's not kosher is that when your invited to their
suddenly ransom channel, your safety is guaranteed as long as you follow their rules. Which I did.
I'll go so far to tip my hat, they've got it down to an art - However, if you advertise to honor ransoms - honor them!

Believing anyone will honor a ransom is foolish. The same is true for engagaging a ninja looter. It sucks, but learn your lesson and move on.

Right, so I appreciate that I should have been more vigilant and need to learn a lesson.

Why do people keep thinking that? What?

We're doing fine, as Leiron's little misadventure illustrates. Incidentally: Leiron, we all had a good laugh and our CEO got a kick out of your email Lol Most of us consider ransoms to fall under the "fool you twice" category, though there's no official policy. We don't have a lot of policy at all really. To your credit, you've been a gentleman through the whole ordeal - cheers for that!

Here's the thing about high sec and ransoms.

Groups like Suddenly prey on the 'weak and naive' PVE community and take whatever they can get. This is logical since they have a poor reputation anyway and anyone misinformed enough to get flagged to them has a chance never to make the same mistake twice. If they are not likely to make the same mistake twice then you might as well milk them for all they have the first time. If you are really foolish enough to get caught a second time after having this happen to you then you are probably always going to be a victim in this game, ransom or not.

Suddenly have no desire to hold an honourable reputation. I don't even think they desire a 'competent' reputation. They simply want to blow up Mission runners etc. Mailing their CEO or simply deriding their chosen way of playing this game will just be met with "lollol ur tears r delicious" so just suck it up and move along.

Pirate groups in low sec are far far more likely to honour any ransom offered since they (for the most part) actually take some pride in their reputations and tend to be fighting people that are somewhat more tuned in to the various corporations and alliances active in their respective regions and word gets around. Blowing up PVP ships is not nearly as worthwhile as it used to be since most of their cost is now in the Hull and not the modules. Offering a ransom and providing convenience makes much more sense when the targets aren't clueless grinding space parasites.

This, all negative ten ransoms are honoured and in the event of an unlikely mistake on our part ransoms are refunded.

Scammers are currently selling killrights on this toon for up to 5mil, if you have paid for this service demand your money back at once.
