Raffle/Lottery - Anyone care for this kind of stuff?

I've seen raffles and lotteries being a big thing in other games as there always seems to be a decent amount of people who like to gamble.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the type of "Games" people like to gamble against.

A few Ideas I had were simple.

1) Growing pot. People can purchase "Numbers", and I use an RNG to make a number 1-1000(or something) every X days(probably 7). Winning number gets winnings split among the winners. If no winners, pot remains for the next roll. - Main concern is no winners for too long.

2) Raffle type. People buy entries, I RNG and pick someone. Always a winner.

Stuff like this, but then I take something like a 5% fee on payout of the winnings.

yes to both, those are popular, most popular ones are the raffle types. the actual numbers racket is not so much, but still there are quite alot of successful usages of both.

thing to note in most "lotteries" they have third parties such as somer that takes care of holding onto the collateral. (oh yea, you generally have to HAVE the actual item before starting it as otherwise there'll be less people inclined to join cause you know.....scams)

I figured the raffle would be more popular as there is a winner every time.

So if I did an All Money raffle, where every person's entry went into a pot. While every entry increases your chance of winning, you also chance to lose more.

Example 1: 10 people each put in 1mil isk, so the pot is 10mil. Each person has a 10% chance to win 95mil(-5% from my fee)

Example 2: 6 people put in 100mil total, 50mil from 1 person and 10mil each from the other 5. So one person has a 50% chance to win 95mil, but also has a 50% chance to lose 50mil.

Does anyone thing the roll should be every fixed number of days, or when the pot hits a certain size, or a mix of both. Say every 7 days or when it hits 500mil, whichever comes first.

Thanks :-)

Edit: I wonder if 2% or something would be a more "fair" fee as I'm not adding value to the money, just holding it.
