Wasn't sure if this should have been posted here or in the Live Events section, but I figured fiction portal would work better as I'm not sure if this really could or should be worked into LE's.

CCP has been continuing it's update on the graphics with the V3 project and with most ships (Jove being one of the few who haven't gotten theirs yet it seems) just about done, they'll be moving on to all the stations and other structures littered all throughout EVE.

Getting better graphics on these massive places and icons of EVE is nice in and by itself already but it also gives CCP an opportunity to address some long standing issues at the same time. I'm talking about the Concord HQ station in Yulai and the Ishukone HQ in Malkalen and there might be similar ones. After the big story events of the Elder Fleet wreaking havoc and the suicide run by Admiral Noir nothing has happened to these locations and they've been left in their destroyed state. With resources being spent to revamp the graphics might I humbly request a little extra effort to fix this in the one go as well. (At the very least put out the fires)

Also it might be possible to tie in some Live Events to this. I can imagine for example Concord expending efforts on rebuilding their HQ could bring out Pirate and other factions to deal them another blow by sabotaging the reconstruction. Or Ishukone rebuilding/upgrading the Malkalen station in Gariushi's honour perhaps making tensions rise between them and other elements within the State again.

In this dark void we are like brilliant stars, holding within us both the creative and destructive power to bring a new dawn upon worlds or plunge them into eternal darkness.

I like the idea. Maybe, for some time, they could be changed for a model in which the station had all the building gear around it as it was being rebuilt. Something similair to the Death Star in Star Wars ep. VI.

There are many structures mentioned in fiction that don't appear in game. Where is the Space Tower at Taisy Prime (chron: Kyonoke Pit)? Where is the Konora black hole?

We've already been discussing basing live events around these for a long time.

It's more than likely something we may possibly just happen to potentially maybe be considering to think about doing.

You have mastered the CCP way of teasing rather quickly. Well can't wait to see what you all have in store for us. And thanks a bunch for spending all the effort, you guys are awesome! Big smile

The problem that we have with doing this on the fly, is that the updating of a station model or something similar can only be done with a large release.

Also, creating a station model takes a lot of development time from the Art Department, so it's something that has to be put into long term planning Smile

Ah the joys of game development. Lol If there is one thing I have learned playing EVE it's patience. Good things come to those who wait. Just hope one day we'll get to see a sight like this in game again.

We went through a similar situation with the A'J Site One in Eram, so we know what to expect when asking for stuff like this.

CCP Falcon, I would love you long time if you convinced them to give pirate stations and station interiors unique models, and to redo the pirate ships that are currently just reskins.

You could do an event like the Evaloun relief event mixed in with some pew. Have a mandate go out that Concord is paying for certain items to be shipped in (kind of like WAY back in the day when vaccines were requested at a certain planet for relief efforts or some such back in 06-07).

You could have construction materials etc requested, and as more and more show up, ebil piewats come out of the woodwork to try to uber sabotage it. This wouldn't really require a station update, maybe just a few extra spawned NPC ships like iterons or something.

^THIS!, well im terms of lore, the Guristas and the Serpentis have to keep those models, but its strange that the Blood Raiders have a geddon as battleship, after having their own models for frigate and cruiser.

also not only pirates, station models for other organizations, like Sisters of EVE and Mordus Legion, even ORE could have their own station and quarter styles.

CCP Falcon, may i suggest a staged approach:

Stage 1: warm up (small patch)
Ishukone and Concord HQs will surely need ships outside of the structure to begin reconstruction work, therefore just add stationary objects such as basic industrials, containers and "props" in a simple pattern outside, with a small news item that indicates major work has begun. Add some special NPC "buy" contracts and allow players to ferry some of the required material

Stage 2: construction (large patch)
Both Station HQs now show their models slightly repaired, with scaffolding structures outside and more activity

Stage 3: all done (large patch)
Both station HQs now are fully repaired, back to their former selfs, but a small monument has been placed outside for remembrance of what was lost and regained.

This is an awesome idea, but it means the creation of a huge set of new art assets.

It also means that these art assets have to be released with point release patches or expansions, which further compounds the issues of timing.

We've been discussing a lot about how to tackle getting assets into game in a timely fashion, and how to time things in general so we'll just have to see what comes of it :)

I briefly played when these events happened (left shortly after Empyrean Age had been released) and recall visiting these stations after there destruction.....the possibility that they could be tied to a ongoing live event is a good one.

I also appreciate that it will take input from the Art Department and a patch.

But think of the love your live events team will get....

(On I side while not a primary RP character the increase in the live events has got me at least more interested in it then I would have had is live events and lore kept being ignored like before...I love a good bit of lore and eve has the best sci-fi spaceship lore in the industry)

Shitposts so bad CONCORD gave me a 50 billion ISK bounty

Hire more artists? Lower standards on artists as far as previous experience, but with more emphasis toward on-the-job training with your current mediums?

Just saying, I wouldn't mind seeing those ship explosions (or degradation as I prefer to detail it) that we saw at fanfest 2012. Yanno, the ones with escape pods being launched when the ship gets into hull?

Edit: Despite my blatantly sarcastic tone (despite being almost completely serious) is that I hear a lot of "requires art assets" responses toward just about -anything- proposed in the Features/Ideas Discussion. I mean, four-five artists is cool as a tight knit group is pretty well-rounded and they know one another but poor T0rfifrans can't do all the work O_o;;

Is there any word on when stations will be updated to v3?

Like the idea of having these stations in an 'under construction' state. But that also brings up something I've often thought of. There really needs to be some art assets depicting construction and repairs of structures. It would give New Eden a bit more depth if there were a fleet of ships and equipment repairing stations, building new stations, doing maintenance on a stargate, etc. (Would the stargate be shut down for a short period of maintenance during a busy holiday weekend? :O )

Might seem frivolous but these art assets could also be a first step for future player building gameplay (?), or at the very least included in new missions.
