How about taking those gunnery skills into T2 territory?

Since you already have a smattering of racial frigate skills, why not follow the "give me free SPs" plan for the "as of yet undated" Destroyer/Battlecruiser skill change. In case you don't know, CCP has announced several times that part of their plan is to split the Destroyers and Battlecruisers skills into distinct racial skills as the Frigates, Cruisers, Battleships, and many of the industrial line of ships are. In order to take advantage of the change when it happens, you need to train the following skills to the following levels:

- All Racial Frigates: IV (III if you only want the Destroyer skills)
- Destroyers: V (This plus the above gives you all Racial Destroyer skills at V)
- All Racial Cruiser: III
- Battlecruisers: V (That plus the above gets you all Racial Battlecruisers at V)

Following this training path also makes you capable of flying the pirate faction friagets and cruisers.

Given the announced skill changes:

Destroyers 5
Battlecruisers 5
Caldari Cruiser 3
Minmatar Cruiser 3

After that, look at the Core Competency Standard certificate.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Perhaps they have been changed since I first played the game a few years ago but I was under the impression that the certificates were not that useful. They sort of just lumped a lot of similarly themed skills together and called it a certificate. Essentially they told you to get skills that were not actually that useful.

Is this not true anymore?

Some of the certificates may not be useful (looking at you Starter Profession Certificates), but the Core Competency Certificates are pretty solid. Your ability to pilot a ship will improve.

Core Competency has always been useful. Check out the skills yourself.

Core covers skills that are useful for all ships, hence well worth the training.

The only categories that are really useful:

* Core
* Defense
* Drones
* Electronic Warfare
* Gunnery
* Leadership
* Missiles

Most of the certificates up to standard or improved are fine. Some of the elite certificates are questionable, though Core Competency Elite is definitely worthwhile.

I don't train for certificates, but notice which ones I have at elite, improved, or standard:

I'm currently finishing-off all medium T2 turrets to level 4 (I'm primarily a shield tanking & missile pilot).

I agree with your post in general but Drones related certificates are debatable as to get them you have to train the 4 factions.

Thanks again.

Once I have Amarr Cruiser to 5 I will finish off the Core Competency Standard (14 days) then hit up the Dessy and BC skills to at least 4.

Once that is done I need to decide between Recon Ships and Gunnery Skills

I had been aiming to fly a Pilgrim for use in exploration but like I said I want to get more into PvP. Seeing as I am a cheapskate I dont expect to use much beyond T1 frigs or dessies, so to that end, are there any skills missing from the Gunnery Certs that I should also train?

CORE COMPETENCY STANDARD Attention and T2 guns and ammo are great
Edit: for gunnery, aim for the advanced (x) type turret control standard certs

I'll take 2 carebears to go, with extra tears
