I've been running L2 missions with an arby but it just feels a bit slow. Looking at BC fits it appears the Omen is capable of twice the DPS. I've run DED sites with an executioner fit with 2 beam lasers and was quite impressed with its ability to engage targets outside of their effective range to hit back, and so I'm tempted to by an Omen and try a similar "sniper" fit with it for L2s. The problem is looking at BC fits NOBODY uses beams on an Omen. Am I missing something? Is this a bad idea?

Named beam and puls fittings on the Omen are quite expensive. I actually did run something like this back in the days, worked out quite nice if you look for webbing frigs. Generally a Harbinger and Navy Omen is a big upgrade if you look for high DPS and fast mission, running L2/3 with a named/T2 fitting.

Hmm, having trouble finding those guns in EveHQ. Those are medium beam lasers correct?

Actually after playing around with this fit in EveHQ I've learned something. Yes the Omen has more DPS but only at closer ranges. When fitting ammo that makes the range comparable with the drone range of the Arby they're quite similar in DPS. Not sure how they compare with T2 equipment though. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a poor Arbi fit for one. Maybe try this?

Omen has terribad grid. Mid tier beams, an AB, and a medium repper require good to great fitting skills to wedge on there (hence the small rep fit already posted).

Navy Omen gets around this nicely but it might be out of your price range.

Pulses are easier to fit, of course, but don't provide the same range option you seem to like.

Yeah that's why I didn't see them. I'm more curious about fits with beam lasers where you can hit way out to 40km or so. With my skills I'm better off sticking with the Arby for now though.

Yeah thats pretty well my fit other than I've only got one gun in the highs (for aggro) and a salvager, tractor beam and remote repairer. I'm just mainly relying on my drones for all my DPS although I've been thinking about dumping the salvage gear (L2 salvage is crap) and adding another beam laser. But it won't do much good till I get some medium energy turret skills.
