You need to register it in Apple's App store. Its currently flagging on my machine (and im sure others) that since Ive security levels set to not run unregistered apps.

EDIT: Or register yourself as a developer with Apple. But the way security settings are on Lion and Mountain Lion, its best to register with Apple directly.

Ive no issues once I bypassed the security check for apps. Looks great, cant wait to see it fully in action.

Using a 2 yo Mac Book Air (OS 10.8.2) video via 42" HDMI TV

Download was smooth and quick - no issues
Needed to launch from Finder (using control key + click) as settings were for Apple registered products only
Found small inflexible window size a problem (but not in scope as you state previously)
Dropdown menus (and page navigation generally) seemed to work OK as did video playback (noting ship inversion)
Even Starmap view loaded without problem - maybe quicker than ingame.
Fullscreen for some videos (Retribution trailer) kept sound but lost vision, other maximised to within window correctly.

Hope this helps - if theres anything more you need let me know.

It runs fine for me. I'm on a Late 2009 Macbook Pro, 2.8 C2D, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 9400M/9600M, MacOSX 10.7.5. Below is a short list of notes:

  • The launcher ran quite smoothly overall.
  • HTML5 OpenGL renders upside down, as others have pointed out. Fullscreen for this didn't work though.
  • Videos worked fine, but I couldn't normally full screen them (same as others); however, I was able to full screen them and then command+tab to the hidden full screen window, at which point it worked.
  • EVE Gate, Google+, Twitter, etc. worked perfectly, and https seemed to work as well since I was able to login to all three without any problems. Actually, Twitter beautifully resized itself as if it was built for the launcher. (We were able to reach these websites via the links on the bottom of the main EVE Online website page.)
  • All of the embedded browser's hotkeys (e.g. control+S) and context menu (right click) were disabled, as I assume was intended.
  • The EVE Launcher Settings (via the 's' key) worked except: (a) text wasn't formatted properly, (b) I couldn't save, (c) the 'range of ports to use' textboxes needed to be wider. Screenshot
  • Attempting to quit after having the launcher open for more than a few seconds caused a ~10 second delay in which my cursor 'spun' and the webpage grayed out. After this delay, it closed properly. The logs don't report an error for this, so I'm not sure why it would take so long to close. It occurs for both command+Q and the window's 'x' button. This is probably the biggest issue I had. Screenshot
  • Just to be sure, I ran both the EVE Online client and the launcher together; there weren't any issues.

Here is my log file. It says there was a NoneType error at some point (not when closing the launcher though), but I didn't experience anything abnormal as far as I can recall. I hope this helps.

The signing is currently being worked on, and should come in a later build. The recent change to GateKeeper threw a spanner in the works, but will be resolved before we release this.

Thanks for your feedback.

Thank you for the detailed feedback, it's much appreciated. The Launcher settings tab is still work in progress specifcally regarding the width of the port input boxes. It's good to have the wrapping information though, since I had thought that bug fixed.

I'll look into the performance for process termination. I'm not sure what could be causing the 10 second delay, but it's definitely not acceptable.

C2D early 2008 MBP 10.8.2 up to date, 2 client running : let's try this new luncher anyway :)

Eve online browsing is fine but youtube embedded video in eveonline website failed in switching fullscreen : sound but no vid + no more mouse visible : fixed with random click on page.

327points + 2 bonus in HTML5test.com : i scrolled down the result page and it freezed : red button works (could not reproduce)

the pastebin thing

The framework seems to run smooth.

Quick edit : 10sec delay termination thing also here

My guess is he made a forum post with a bunch of links in it. You can get to the forums from the new launcher and use those links.

There's a Google+ link at the bottom of the main website. Clicking that takes you to CCP's Google+ page, then clicking "Search" at the top takes you to google which will take you pretty much anywhere. Smile

Anytime, I'm glad to see the [mac] launcher getting some iteration. I'll run any updated versions of the beta launcher that you post to see if the closing delay goes away. Is anyone else experiencing the closing delay that I mentioned, or is it just me?

Also, you stated that you'd like to hear some suggestions for the launcher. Do you mean small, mac-based ones, or a bit larger iterations for the launcher in general?

Keep up the good work!

Hi,

15-inch, Early 2011 MPB 2.3GHz 8G Ram OS X 10.8.2 with all the silly security turned off Big smile

Same comments as most

Could not break it
Ran fast and smooth
No problems with EvE site appart from the upside down ships Pirate
No problems with a few other sites

Did find that I could not un-minimise the app - Pressed the yellow dot, double-clicked the icon in the launch bar that normally restores a minimized app, but noting. Repeated several times with 100% failure

Keep up the great work, Mac-Love for the win!

I have a 2012 Retina MacBookPro with Mountain Lion.

The new launcher looks good, but there are a few minor points:

- I don't see any on screen button to open the launcher settings window. The keypress method does open the window.

- It seems to have trouble opening the starmap with 'Ships Lost', 'Jumps Last 30 days' and 'Sovereignty Changes'.

- It is not Retina-aware and doesn't use the full screen resolution for rendering the web pages.

Now that we have Sisi, buckingham, duality and god knows whatever else test server comes up, would be nice to be able to click Duality and have it make a duality folder....

EvEclonemaker is still a multi boxers best friend, integration would be awesome or some other way to allow multi boxing

Having a login in the launcher and being able to choose a account or even characters would probably be too much to ask....

Tested with quite a few sites, besides EVE-O, including Facebook, google, youtube, twitch.tv, own3d.tv, miniclip.com and others.

Results:
• eveonline.com worked fine, with the exception of the ship spinning being upside down as mentioned before
• google.com seems to work fine, that includes sections for images, maps and translation
• youtube.com - no problems that I could find
• twitch.tv, own3d.tv - live video steaming works very nicely. No problems with HD and fullscreen.
• miniclip.com - crashed as I tried to play a game (Pastebin Link)
• tried another flash game site and I could play though it was a bit clunky :P
• other sites I tried all seemed to render without problems :)

Overall seemed quite fast and responsive. Would be a pretty good browser if only I could make the window a bit bigger, but I guess that wasn't the idea here :P

P.S. I'm running Late 2009 MacBook 2.13 C2D, 4GB RAM, OSX 10.6.8

Not a programmer (at least not yet), so no hacking. And none was necessary.

1. Open launcher
2. go to the bottom of the eve-o page and click on the Facebook button
3. you are redirected to Facebook -> log in
4. go to Facebook page of Google
5. click Google.com link given in the info tab
6. brea... eeeeem... test stuff... ? Blink

don't know if that's supposed to work like that, but at the moment it does. once you get to Google the world is open Big smile
Also, tired some java and python based web-apps and they seemed to work as expected. give it navigation buttons and an address bar and it would work as good as safari/firefox and a damn side better than IE (for those unhappy Win people who try to use it) Blink

I have a 2012 27" imac 2.7GHz Core i5 running 10.7.5.

I've tried all sorts of button and functionality and all seems to work reasonably well. The only significant issue I found was that the launcher launched with a window size that was small. With screen resolution on a 27" monitor at 2560 x 1440 it was much too small. The little green expand button was non-functional. In addition, I was unable to grab the bottom right of the window and expand that way. Tried minimizing and maximizing from the dock and still no better. Perhaps you've already heard this one before, I must confess I haven't read through all the posts, but it's very annoying to have to scroll left and right, up and down in the launcher. Makes the functionality of all these links kind of pointless, I'd just push play every time.

thanks,

Keep up the good work.

Everything seems fine to me. However, I did open four instances of the launcher at the same time and one of them received a 401 while attempting to visit the youtube link at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for your ideas. One of the reasons for doing the embedded browser is actually that; login enabled within the Launcher. We've been looking at the reasons people have for using multiple accounts (from in-game competitive advantages to simple control over settings) and we want to revisit many of the concepts that went in with the game's creation 10 years ago, that have never been revisited, with new technological improvements, over the the years.

One of our blue sky ideas is login in the Launcher, where you might be able to chat, post to the forums, etc, before selecting the (saved) settings you want and then starting the game.

Basically everything's on the table, which is why I'm all ears when it comes to ideas.
