Christ on a bike, why.

If you a going to the trouble of making a video, talking guff for 20 minutes and then uploading it to youtube, just plug the damn thing in and actually talk about it. All I want to know is how good the mic on the steel series 4h headset is and if it's worth buying.

What I get is how hard it is to get into a sealed clear plastic box (scissors, but maybe his mum's hidden them from him), 'informed' that it does indeed have a warranty card and if you are dodeca-lingual it's got more manuals than you can shake a fist at. And please god don't talk about how good the knife that you are using to unbox is. For five minutes. Get laid.

All I need is a rifle, names and addresses and some air miles.

.......um...what?

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Those unboxing videos are the ultra in... dorkdom, I guess. My son watches model airliner and model NASCAR unboxings. But he's 10 years old, and the videos are done by 10-12 year olds. Grown guys videoing unboxing iPhones and that kind of stuff-- WTH?

I'll admit I look at these videos when evaluating a product I am looking at buying like a pair of Astros A40's or something a bit on the pricey side. It lets me look at it from all angles to see if there's something obvious I haven't thought of.

I'll admit I look at unboxings from time to time, but only for stuff I feel actually needs an unboxing. Like, I feel you could find out everything you ever wanted to know about an iPhone from a 3 minute google search.

A keyboard, mouse, case, pair of headphones, etc I feel is a little more niche obviously. Written reviews and website descriptions only seem to cover so much. If I'm going to drop a ton of money on something, I want to know everything about it. I tend to only watch these types of videos from NCIXtechtips, (the old) motherboards.org, and channels like that. Professionals. They actually take the time to go over the product and actually have relevant **** to say. Rarely do I just watch some dude in his basement talking about nothing.

edit: ...and I guess I should add, this is only if I can't find an actual video review of whatever it is I'm looking for.

I agree in principle, but please be aware of forum rule 5:

Forum rules wrote:

Ranting is prohibited

A rant is a long-winded, redundant post, often filled with angry, non-constructive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and helpful in the development of the game, but rants are disruptive and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise, clear manner and avoid going off on rambling tangents.
