I don't think I said anywhere that I was griefed. I got called names several times but that's just another part of Eve's culture.

you can report that if you wish. But really you run into Douche-bags in every MMO.
well to be fair, eve DOES have a higher rate of douchebaggery than the rest of the MMO's.

good thing is, you can explode them, or grief them yourself.

LOL. Maybe if you guys keep tossing insults this thread will get enough hits that a dev might look at it, maybe even read it.

Strickly speaking killing them on their own terms wouldn't be greifing. I'd be happy to explode them, just one problem, my T1 ship don't stand much chance against a T2 battlecruiser or a T3 cruiser. Particularly when they come in groups of five.

I was in a player corporation for a while, until another corporation none of us had ever heard of declared war. I was told this is standard practice when a corp wants to inflate its stats, it comes to highsec to find easy victims. Funny thing was in that war our corporation lost 3 frigates (1st engagement), the other corp lost to 2 BCs (2nd engagement). I was offline at the time, alas work does interfere, but Im told the other corporation was quite offended that we used such "ghey" tactics to prevent them docking to come back to the fight with new ships.

I can assure you that the cane pilot had Implants worth more then the BS hes fighting, over heated his guns, and has a orca or Command ship in system giving boosts.

Either way, you only engage when you know you will fight.

LOL. Did I say I was going to play a Sony game? SWG is shutting down Dec 15th which is why I pointed out that Eve could gain a lot of new players. If Sony buys a stake in CCP? Be careful what you wish for you may just get it.

every mmo is like eve as far as griefers go

ever go onto battlefield servers? u get spawn campers popping ppl constantly before they even load screen

same happens in many other online games...

Griefing even happens in wow, and will happen in the new starwars game.

if you dont like being griefed stick to single player games

In Eve you have a minority of players that essentially dictate how the majority players. This minority deprives the majority access to many of what should be fun content. This same minority apparently has as their goal to drive the minority out of the game entirely by doing everything in their power to grief "highsec" players. For some reason this minority feels that highsec players have no right to enjoy their online time.
…do you have any example of this?

there are several ways to **** up somebody.

all of them however, take time, patience, and a lot of imagination, and hatred too.

I know of some cases in this game where people made their objective to **** up somebody that crossed them.

and they managed to do it in the end.

You are correct, griefing happens in any game with more than a few people playing. However, those griefers don't typically get support from the game's developers and most don't have quite so many ways to grief others.

My first day playing Eve I fell for the can flipping routine. I'd heard of it but didn't expect it in a 1.0 system as I was told griefing was frowned upon in those systems. The guy dropped my ore, me being naive believed him when he said "oops, sorry, my mistake". I picked it up, clicked "Yes" on the warning because again being naive I believed the guy. As soon as I picked it up he grabbed me with a scrambler and I couldn't move. He told me he'd let me go for 1 million ISK. Well I was helpless and broke so you can guess what happened. I filed a ticket to complain that this had happened in a 1.0 system. The dev response was "you could have fought". Well since I was in my brand new Navitas with it's emensely powerful Civilian blaster and he was in his Taranis I thought this response was a bit harsh.

I'm pretty sure there's a killboard or something like that where you can look up my record of losses, so what is the point in me making stuff up?

Your problem here is that you seem to confuse legitimate gameplay with griefing. This is most likely due to you not going into the game with the right expectations.

This is not any of those other MMOs you've tried. This is an MMO where conflict — actual conflict — between players lies at the very heart of the game. Everything revolves around it. You need to be prepared for this and learn to either win or avoid those conflicts. The game will not help you because, again, it's about you versus the game but about you versus everyone else.

If I were to guess, I'd say that you've accidentally mixed up “setting” and “genre”: the two are not the same thing. You wanted a space setting, but in finding a diferent game with that setting, you accidentally picked a game in a completely different genre than what you were expecting (and possibly, than what you wanted).

It's perhaps a harsh lesson, but you need to learn it early… as in, right now. Or, if this is not the kind of gameplay you enjoy then, sadly, you need to find a different game that offers that kind of gameplay.

Actually I think it's "Shadow Assassins" in Spanish. Was reading Duma Key at the time I created the toon (Casa de Asesinos).

Well, it deos not make sense as "sombre" is not a word in Spanish.

"Shadow assasins" should be translated as "Asesinos de las sombras", although it doesn't sounds specially cool in Spanish due to polysemy ("asesinos de las sombras" could mean either that they belong to shadows, that they come from the shadows or that they killed the shadows, as "de" can mean either "(belonging) to", "from" and "of").

It seems like OP simply doesn't have enough MMO experience to compare.

I started in 1998th in Ultima Online - there people killing each other just to check if there is anything valuable in your bag - or to cut off some meat from dead body to cook it and feed their pet dragon (or kitten). And all of that right near borders of major city - just few steps away from guarded territory. EVE is very friendly game compared to that.
