Seems that the SyFy Channel has teamed up with some game developers to offer an MMO set in a world of an upcoming TV series. Lol

Wanna bet who goes live first? Series due to start airing in April 2013.

Access to the game will include a PC platform. LolLolLol

Old news...looks interesting and ill give it a shot for the sake of the novelty at least. Defiance isn't the first Game/Show to do this either. .HACK comes to mind right off the top of my head. While not an MMO it was a series of games inbetween seasons of an anime.

Im on the fence with the story for Defiance though. We will see...

honestly not crazy about the game but i am a little ancy for the show because i miss stargate, the event, sanctuary i think got canceled, umm bunch of other sci fy shows that got canceled cause reality TV pays better

*i mean effing FAKE REALITY cause we all know it but the drones who watch them*

i HATE, and i mean HATE......... reality TV because it is so ******* fake and garbage, i like imagination and the future space but sadly, so many dumb people in the world that are drone's.

the only show that i like and is still going that is almost beating reality TV and suprised everyone in the world was THE WALKING DEAD!

which isn;t the futuristic scify but still love it

Looks awesome, will prob try it. It looks like Planetside 2 mashed with Entropia Universe.

Not gonna make me stop playing EVE though and if DUST ever does eventually come to PC I'll play that too :D

Honestly? Not interested. There's been so many games like this: Tabula Rasa, Fallen Earth, Earthrise, Firefall (not really an MMO, but close), etc., etc. None of them did terribly well, because merging an FPS + MMO doesn't really work out too well. Combat ends up too shallow, content too similar, and subscribers get quickly bored.

I've played Trion's (developer) other game - Rift. Good graphics, good support, good ideas but overall impression is like developers rushed to somewhere and left the game unfinished. Poor itemization, no economy, poor crafting system, boring PvP, strange attempt to copy GW2 server vs server PvP, PvE grind as the end-game instead of some type of fun / action / dynamic (you have to return to exactly the same mobs in the same places - every week).

If their new game will be like Rift it won't compete with Dust or EVE. Planetside 2 is actual danger for Dust - because it's already there and it's fun and SOE devs listen to players and work like there is no tomorrow.

The office is a great show too. Obviously not even remotely sci fi, but great non the less. Last season as well so that sucks.

Soooo.... aliens advanced enough to build colonizing interstellar space ships, hangs in orbit for years working through negotiations with Terrans (cant even make it to the moon) for colonization rights, war breaks out, and there is basically a stalemate. lol?
And this makes production rather than a Blood and Chrome series? lol syfy
So is this game going to be another syfy browser game? I don't think the question is which will go live first, but which will be canceled first? Blink (speaking series vs. series game)

And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

Falling Skies is decent. Not awesome...but decent enough to watch.
