How do you AFK attack?

If they are AFK, how do they attack.
If they are attacking... why do you call them AFK?
I don't get it...

If you don't know if they are really AFK or not you have to stop ratting or mining or run the risk that they are not really AFK and they uncloak on you, pop a cyno and a bomber gang gets bridged in and lands on your face and melts your ship. They call them AFK cloakers but they don't really know if they are AFK or not.

This has got to be bulls***. Your account goes back to 2003. Stop trolling toolbag.

On hand this may be considered a troll, since it is obviously obvious...

On the other had you have people claiming that pilots who are AFK are attacking them.

So if people are claiming delusions then normally trolled troll nullified.
If people are claiming this to be true, then it deserves an explanation as to how.

So you dooooont know they are AFK is what you are saying.
Just saying they are AFK for the sake of argument to "fix" it?

AFK cloakers are a myth. There are two types of cloaking griefers.

1) those who have melted your face
2) those who will eventually melt your face

Here is how an AFK cloacker "attacks" you. Like it was said in a earlier post, the afk cloacker gets into a null sec system, warps to a safe, cloacks and stays there for days. Slowly, you will notice the industry and/or military index of your system fall down to zero. That is how he "attacks" you AFK.

You can bait him...but he wont come because, the AFK cloacker does not want to kill your ship. He wants to lower your system`s index...AFK! Great type of playing right?

You can continue with your farming/mining but...you never know!!! Smile maybe the cloacker is not AFK and....maybe its your ship he wants after all!! There is no way to tell.

If this thread is legit, which it is not, a far more interesting question would be 'how do you even exist in EvE?'

but, if he's not AFK, then he's not an AFK cloaker, now is he?

AFK attacking is when you warp to a target, lock it, hit orbit, start shooting then walk away from the keyboard. The more you know.

Now I realize I was beginning to miss this thread.

There's only one way to deal with cloaky campers and that's to counter cloaky-camp. They hate it as much as you do and so after a while they will stop when their ratting and industry slows to a crawl.

The worst cloaky camp situation is when a 3rd party is hired with an NPC corp alt to cloaky camp you, but you usually have an idea who is putting them up to it anyway.

This is a stupid game mechanic since it relies on someone being logged in and only logged in, to disrupt an entire system. But cloaks are far too valuable for "other reasons", so we'll have to live with it. Of course now with the new buffed mining barges, it's trivial to deal with a cyno-equipped cloaky camper using a bait fleet....

In the unlikely event that you're not trolling, fly to a nullsec system in a rookie ship equipped with a cloak, go to a safe spot, cloak up, and go to work leaving your home computer logged in to eve. Voila - afk cloaking. The problem isn't being afk, it's not being able to tell if the other guy is afk or not.

Always interesting that it is unaffected players that troll the "AFK Camping Stealth Bombing is quite possibly the best thing CCP ever allowed in their game mechanics" argument.........

What we are not asking for..........

Doing away with stealth
doing away with risk
doing away with griefing
doing away with camping fun but at teh same time do nothing about afk ratting and mining

What we are asking for

Make the camper work for his griefing in a gaming way

oh and do something to stop afk mining and afk ratting while you're at it........

Case in point - replicator has 24+ accounts and is now camping provi region effectively shutting down miners and ratters there - to the extent that all those wonderful carebears that tough null sec players keep saying should move to null - and they did - are now packing up there hulks and going back to hisec
This isn't a poke at replicator - I admire him for his dedication (24 crazy accounts!) - he is just taking the camping mechanic to its logical conclusion.

In fact if carebears really want to see a change to this mechanic then I suggest starting up a Camping alliance and go and camp 100's of null sec systems across the game - most carebears have 2-4 accounts - get organised and train a toon in SB - and get together and go and camp the big sov blocks in null - log on when you know you can't play and stay cloaked......maybe something for another thread......

My fun suggestions for making camping an 'active pass time'

1. Stront fuel needed for cloak operation - 100 hrs worth in a frig 150 hours in a cruiser 200 in a bs

2. Slow burn scanning probe - takes an hour (or more) but will find a cloaked ship if it doesn't move

3 Slow burn overheating - cloaking device slowly overheats - cooldown takes twice as long as the overheating - maybe an hour before mods start to take damage - 4 hours for full burn out of cloak -

4. Sov anchorable structure will generate bookmarks for everyship in system after they have been in system for more than 8 hours and follow the ship even if moving or cloaked

I guess the main point is make camping an active pass time

Cheers

PS - This topic will only be 'done to death' when AFK cloaking mechanic dies - so I guess you got to live with it til thenBlink

Non of them show you HOW to AFK cloak.

I want to know HOW to do this.

You didn't read the threads. I can tell.

Let me break it down for you:

  1. Get cloaky ship, preferably one with better cyno fuel consumption
  2. fit cloak and cyno to your cloaky ship
  3. infiltrate enemy system
  4. Sit AFK for a few days, just log in when you go to work and as soon as you can after DT, activate your cloaking device.

The danger that AFK cloakers present arrives in the following scenario:

  1. Get a fleet together, make sure at least one person has a titan or black ops that can open a (covert) cyno bridge
  2. Light cyno
  3. Other guy opens cyno bridge
  4. gank fleet comes through bridge
  5. gank fleet optionally goes home

Of course you will probably come back with "but that's not AFK", which is beside the point. The main threat of "AFK" cloakers is that you never know when that gank is going to arrive. It's not the AFK or the cloaky bit that concerns people, it's the near instant arrival of a gank fleet.

Now go ahead and prattle on about how they're not really AFK if they're attacking you. We'll understand.

All hail the Invisible Pink AFK Cloaker, as she is both invisible and pink (and AFK) and yet still a threat.
