How do you AFK attack?

I keep hearing about these "AFK cloakers" that attack people.

How does one attack when not at the keyboard?
Is there a script for this? Is it a VNC?
A mod? Special Ship?
Is it CCP sanctioned?

I am very confused because I do not know how to do this thing where you scout people and kill them while AFK? I would love to be able to do that. Thanks.

Your appeal to the reasonable side of Anti-AFK cloakers peoples is useless as they dont use reason and are only mad in the first place becasue they are afraid of losing yet another bot ratting carrier or bot mining fleet to someone who was NOT AFK.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

The attack only occurs in the mind of the "victim".

No.

When people talk about "AFK Cloakers", they aren't attacking AFK. An example of what they are talking about might be a stealth bomber pilot going into a nullsec system where a mining operation is taking place. The bomber pilot cloaks up at a safe spot, and then maybe goes to his shift at the quick-e-mart. 8 hours later the miners are back, having decided that the person cloaked up is inactive and that it's probably "safe". Quick-e-mart shift complete, the bomber pilot finds the miners toiling away, and deploys a bomb followed up w/ some missiles and the complacent mining vessels go pop-pop-pop. That's the gripe about AFK cloakers. They don't attack AFK... it's just their extended periods of being in the local channel yet unscannable means that safety in a system is always on a razors edge.

...the more you know. Big smile

Your completely misunderstanding the concept - probably deliberately.

No cloaks don't need a timer, fuel to run or player input to keep them on yada yada... tho on the flipside if someone has sov in null then IMO they should have tools to deal with long time cloaky ships in their systems via infrastructure upgrades - not something that would change the current nature of cloaking or decloak someone but some other way of giving those who live in the system some tools to deal with long term afk cloakies - not to the degree it takes the danger away this is null after all but so its better balanced.

If there was no Local, they wouldn't even know they were there.

If it covered a whole solar system, we'd be smack talking people on "just" the other side of the world from here, and spamming them with explicit images and getting banned.

I liked when local was broken and people stayed in local even when they were logged off. I had a laugh when i was camping a gate waiting for someone who had been logged off for an hour. It was the ultimate buff to AFK campers and the nullbear whiners were in overdrive and their precious bots wouldnt work right. Dont eliminate local CCP, just break it again!

Here we go again Roll Maybe you missed the 5000 other post on the topic maybe your just trolling either way here is how a cloaker kills you. Let say you have a cloaker in system doesnt matter if he is afk or not that part is irrelevent. With said cloaker in your system if your a miner or mission runner you shouldnt really be doing either. They can find you and bookmark an item at your location without you knowing and then his/her buddies can insta warp to where you are. Even if your aligned chances are if they bring the right ships your going to lose yours. Just that simple. The cloaker killed you and didnt even have to uncloak to do it.

People arent looking to do away with stealth....I love my stealth ships. People want a way to scan down the cloaked camper or a active aggressive way to counter the camper thats not passive like leaving the system.

AFK cloakers are the best but if you play the game you understand pretty quickly which ones are dangerous and which ones are not.

This knowledge does not apply to nullbears.

Now you can add bounties to them as well you have another weapon at your disposal

This works as well, nerf local is general in what it calls for. As long as local becomes useless, that's just as good as removing it.

So.. is there a mod or notification that pops up to tell you when someone is AFK?
If they are AFK, how do they attack.
If they are attacking... why do you call them AFK?
I don't get it...

Miners get ridiculed if they mine afk.

Mission runners get ridiculed if they mission afk.

Griefers get applauded if they grief afk.

Double standard much?

Why don't we just remove all forms of afk play in the game?

If you want to play the game, sit down and play the game.

On hand this may be considered a troll, since it is obviously obvious...

On the other had you have people claiming that pilots who are AFK are attacking them.

So if people are claiming delusions then normally trolled troll nullified.
If people are claiming this to be true, then it deserves an explanation as to how.
