This reply was entered while using the browser built into the new launcher. That is, entered on that browser.

Seems to work fine.

Looks like I'm late to the party!

I have nothing new to add. Looking forward to the next test.

Wait, is this the basis for the creation of a full mac client?
I still find it strange I've been living on Windows7 via bootcamp for the last 12 months due to EVE running so much better on it.

Runs fine, faster than usual I think, could log in and navigate. No issues whatsoever. star maps worked fine. Do you need the log file or just if theres an issue? Nice work

Tested with quite a few sites, besides EVE-O, including Facebook, google, youtube, twitch.tv, own3d.tv, miniclip.com and others.

Results:
• eveonline.com worked fine, with the exception of the ship spinning being upside down as mentioned before
• google.com seems to work fine, that includes sections for images, maps and translation
• youtube.com - no problems that I could find
• twitch.tv, own3d.tv - live video steaming works very nicely. No problems with HD and fullscreen.
• miniclip.com - crashed as I tried to play a game (Pastebin Link)
• tried another flash game site and I could play though it was a bit clunky :P
• other sites I tried all seemed to render without problems :)

Overall seemed quite fast and responsive. Would be a pretty good browser if only I could make the window a bit bigger, but I guess that wasnt the idea here :P

P.S. Im running Late 2009 MacBook 2.13 C2D, 4GB RAM, OSX 10.6.8

Opens and renders fine. I was prompted to allow incoming network connections to the app, which I'm pretty sure also happened with the regular launcher. The spaceships in the viewer did display upside-down, though, as others have mentioned.

The small window really is bothersome!!!! Makes it look like a thrown together work. Even if it is just a launcher, allow the window to be resized, or remove the browsing capability.

There should be no reason why you can't resize the window, but don't go to press as it is now.

Edit: It also asked to upgrade flash which it downloaded and installed very cleanly.

The "Allow incoming connections?" dialog comes up very time you launch it, not just the first time.

The settings button (the wrench and screwdriver) seems to be missing, and not replaced by anything giving the same functionality.

If this is a browser, how do I enter in an address? Is there a "back" button? I went to tweetfleet and could not figure out how to get back.

I downloaded it and it ran fine on my machine. The only thing I notice was that some of the items wouldn't load like if there was a star map or something similar. The ships where upside down for me but that was already reported.

I did find it loaded much much faster than the current one I can wait for the live version.

OpenGL is the way, and not the privative, un-interoperable, DirectX crap.

This test is purely related to the EVE Launcher on Mac. A full on OpenGL renderer is a little out of my purview both technically (i've no clue about rendering engines) and professionally (it's not a project I'm involved in) so I can't really speak to it.

Sorry.

The videos did play for me. One oddity: When I pressed the button to go to full screen I got no video at all. It was still playing, I could hear the sound. But the screen was just what it was before I pressed the full screen button, less a video being played in its initial window. Pressing esc brought it back.

Edit: I do not know if its supposed to be there, but I see no way to make the launcher window a different size.

The ship viewer not only shows ships upside down, but the camera movement is upside down too. (Moving the mouse up and down causes the opposite movement of the ship model).

The EVE Launcher isn't supposed to be resizeable, since I simply took the existing EVE Launcher (albeit with a new shiny embedded browser) and pointed it at a known website Smile

Thanks for the news on the ship viewer!

No, just an attempt at parity for the Windows and Mac EVE Launchers.

Wow thanks for the in-depth testing. I assume you redirected the website via some hosts magic rather than hacking open my Launcher Blink

Thank you for your feedback, however it's not meant to be a fully usable browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. The Windows version of the EVE Launcher also contains and embedded browser, to enable the display of dynamic content, rather than a static bitmap such as the Mac version currently has. As such, the inability to resize the browser isn't something that is likely to change. The fact that the eveonline.com webpage is larger than the browser window doesn't really matter in this case.

That said, thank you for your time in testing this, it's always good to get more eyes on.

Do you have any more information? This is exactly the kind of stuff that I'm most interested in! If it's failing on some computers I deatly want to know why so that we can attempt to ensure that it doesn't happen when it goes live.

Please, please, please dig out the app and we can possibly do some debugging so to find the root cause.
