Mission - http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Pirate_Aggression
ammo - plutonium charge M

Hey all,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, Mods fell free to move it and let me know where general help posts should go. thanks.

I am on the mission above and popped along to the site but the mobs do very little damage to me and i do nothing to them. the combat log says i am glancing or doing 2 damage but their shields etc remain at 100%. I did note that I stayed about 1600 (miles?) from them so perhaps I am too slow? I tried both 'approach' and orbit at 500.

What is my problem here, other then general ignorance lol. Is it my ammo, or am i too slow so can't get close? Perhaps my guns are rubbish? I do have a passive targeter, afterburner and three rail guns and some shields etc. Are my guns/power weakened by all my fittings or are they just rubbish? Is the Mission perhaps too hard for me? To be honest the problem could be so many things that I really don't know where to start looking so any tips/advice would be much appreciated. I wasn't sure what info you may need so just noted down the stats above.

If you are unsure what could be wrong then given my stats above can you recommend a good place to go or an agent to get missions from that should be do-able?

huge thanks :)

Vexor means medium hybrid guns. Do you have them fitted? No way vexor is doing 50.7 dps even with most crappiest skills and guns. Beside you have also drones and bonus to their damage if I'm not mistaken.

Did you finished tutorial missions? Because I have a feeling you are completely out of place.

Ah, I pasted a section that I thought was the model of my ship. I do remember having drones but I don't currently have any, or at least don't remember how to launch the suckers.

I did the tutorial missions over two years ago and have not played much (if at all) since. Will have to try and work my way back and see if I can just pick up some easy missions and relearn the basics.

Cheers

Whole NPE (New Player Experience) was revamped and improved not so long ago so I would propose to do those newbie missions. Also find some PVE vexor fit. All cruisers (and frigates and destroyers) were revamped in last expansion so your vexor should generally rip rats in L2 and maybe some of L3 missions.

Also it would be a good idea to look for a corp, especially one with PVE activities and do missions in team. Forums are nice but if you have to be prepared to be trolled a lot. Not everybody is as nice as I am :)

Thanks mate, ill check them out. I don't remember eve being this overwhelming before lol, think it's because i started as I was meant to (doing tutorial missions etc) but now a few years later i don't recall much of it so felt a bit lost.

I'm sure it will all come back though :)

Cheers again

50 DPS is certainly possible with low skills and railguns.

The Vexor is primarily a drone boat. If you want to fly it well, you'll need Drones V to deploy a full flight of five drones. For most PVE you'll use Hobgoblins against frigates, and Hammerheads against cruisers or larger. Another possible drone loadout is 2 Ogres, 2 Hammerheads, and 1 Hobgoblin. But the slow speed of ogres makes them more vulnerable and the additional DPS may not help in fights with extended travel distance between targets.

If you're just learning how to handle drone combat (and it got more complex in this expansion) you might be better off playing around with a Tristan or Algos through some level 1 and easy level 2 missions.

From the link, it looks like you're doing a level 1 mission in a cruiser. Level 1 missions are dominated by frigates with the occasional destroyer. Medium guns have a more difficult time hitting smaller targets. Some of the solutions include deploying light drones, minimizing transversal by manually flying and keeping range, fitting blasters with mods that increase tracking, and using target painters and/or stasis webifiers to make them easier to hit.

If you want to focus primarily on turret damage, you might be better using a Thorax or cross-training into some of the other racial cruisers.
