Side Effects of the New Bounty System

Dear Sirs,

I do live here - for some time.
Lost my first ALTs in a furious fight. I understand that.
It was BoB against the Goons in 2005/6 - I think - and we - before melted down - landed in the middle of nowhere.
There were battlefields and a character : SirMolle - remembered - we were afraid of him - so my father was born.
My User then, he has lost some, but he / I'm still here.

One of my characters - the important one - is a very helpful female (me) mostly seen in the German speaking HILFE Channel. For quite some years it tries to educate pilots to become characters, which can survive in New Eden.

Additionally it has an overall understanding regarding Incursions. We support the beginners there - we don't give a dime for elitist groups.

On the day - the new bounty system was introduced - I was made a criminal.
Somebody - for no reason - put a bounty on my head.

My USER - the guy infront of the keyboard and the guy who pays my yearly account - is totally unwilling to play bounty-ed characters. He tells me - that there is a clear line.

He has a contract with a corporation called CCP which allows to choose from a career.
He is telling me : there is no career for me in New Eden as a criminal = negative security or bounty-ed character.

Why : it's the communications barrier

Would anybody in RL believe a criminal flagged, negativ sec standings or bounty-ed character ?
To put it clearly and short : many of the above are considered an ******* - at least.

So - you would have to tell my User - why should he play such a character.
And - in the HILFE Channel - why should anybody believe in an *******.

I want the bounty OFF my head - quickly - I want my integrity back.

Tell your owner to meet me in VFK in a ship that is worth 500% of his bounty or more & I would be happy to remove it for him.

In very real and practical terms...

What difference does a bounty make?

You can't be shot in high sec just because you have one, you don't gain or lose anything personally if you die, and the stigma of the wanted banner for recruitment will soon disappear cos every bugger is gonna have it at this rate, so corps getting fussy will just die.

As long as killing you costs more than your bounty noone in high sec is going to bother and in low or null sec they won't care about your career path they'll just shoot you.

Scammers are currently selling killrights on this toon for up to 5mil, if you have paid for this service demand your money back at once.

Killing me should be for free.

Explain to your user that eve and the world in which he inhabits are not one and the same, yet in some ways they are the same.

The key difference is that unlike his world, in eve a bounty does not mean you are a criminal. A bounty simply means that someone out in New eden, for whatever reason, felt that your lifestyle, choice, background, or another aspect annoyed this person so much, they opted to place a monetary reward on the destruction of your assets or pod. There is no similar concept in the users world.

As for the similarities between the two worlds, people hate for a variety of reasons. Hate could be caused by upbringing, disagreement of opinions, or even stem from a propaganda campaign created by a central government. This does not mean the hate is justified, only that it exists. For example, you are gallante. This your user knows. I, as a caldari, hate all that you stand for. I blame your ethnic origins for the plight of my people. Again, this may not be valid. The plight of my people is caused by corporate greed run rampant. Still, I have bought into the propoganda of my state and thus view you as an enemy.

Through no fault of your own, (you have never oppressed me, in fact until now we have never interacted) I hold a grudge against you. I am capable of placing a bounty on you simply because I am a petty, shallow human with flaws and a grudge. Does that mean you are a criminal? No. You just happen to be the wrong race from my view point.

Your user should understand this. Ask him about the years from 1924 to about 1945.

And in the mean time, wear your bounty with pride. You have stood your ground and made enough of yourself to be viewed as worth harassing. You've accomplished something, annoying another human enough to seek retribution. Wear that badge with honor and pride, knowing that to the vast majority of us, a bounty simply means you have annoyed others, not been a criminal.

Bounty = money paid to see your character is dealt with.

Mafia calls this a hit. A hit is targeted at a person who may not have commited any crime. Since the game allows criminals, it needs to allow criminals the ability to place a hit. The current bounty system has done that. Just because you are bountied, does not mean you are criminal.

this is the stupidest thing i have read all day. also if your "user" isn't willing to deal with a 100K bounty then you should just fly a faction ship my way and ill pop it Twisted or you could always biomass.

Posting in german won't get you anywhere here. Post it in the german subforums please.
And no, not all relevant changes in Retribution aid the player group that cried the most. But you have to agree that the bounty system was unusable. Now it is. Read again the replies in this thread. People with bounty are not necessarily criminals. If you want to compare it with real life take the Mafia comparison: Just because they want you dead does not mean you're a criminal.

Yeah the OP gave me a headache so expect a bounty from me.

Just put 10mill on for laughs and while doing that I noticed that the OP only had a 200k isk bounty before hand...

Why complaints over such a small bounty?

Play EvE how you want to play it and do not let others dictate how you play. Evolve your playstyle to protect yourself from others! Even in "PVE", "PVP" is there, lurking in the shadows.
