Dec Shield is now at an end. The final permadec loophole has been closed. People will begin escaping en masse. There will be pretty charts to show this in the coming weeks.

Hi Zerg. Here you go:

How did you get trapped?
- It was a contract war I believe that initially got us in.

How many concurrent wars did you get up to?
- Not sure, but probably approaching triple digits. I stopped counting a while ago.

Did you ever see a war target?
- Yes. We more or less stopped being "active" after we got trapped (what's the point? can't go to where most targets are anyway). We did get some kills, and zero losses. The Dec Shield "white knights" were nowhere to be seen, aside from Jita 4-4 station, docked.

Did you lose anything ever?
- No.

How many notifications did you get?
- A lot. It was a few dozen per day. I just kind of cycled through them to see if there was anything interesting, but usually there wasn't. There was a surprising amount of corporations that left Dec Shield offering to surrender for 0.00 ISK though; like 10% of the total maybe.

Do you plan to resume justice against your original targets?
- Did originally plan to become very active again. Doesn't look like that's going to happen now. Why bother? As a belligerent undesirable, I see Retribution as driving the final nail into non-consensual pvp. Scamming bounties doesn't do a whole lot for me, since I'm not a "hoard all the ISK" type of person. I'm down to two active accounts, and that's only because they have a lot of time left on them.

If I'm going to stick around, it will only be to grief as many people as possible, as much as I possibly can. Probably don't have a lot of time for that either, though. Haulers will receive the anti-gank treatment shortly, and the good old awox will follow before the end of the year. Since wars are as easy to escape as ever, after those two things go away, high-sec will truly become safe.

The meek shall inherit the EVE, I guess.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

1) We deced eve uni, who love using any form of exploit they can to prevent wars

I was in a corp that got caught up in dec shields mutual wars. Didn't effect my gameplay much as I am a professional merc and actually got some juicy kills out of the whole ordeal. But seriously, in the back of my mind I kept asking myself why you are so determined to troll this aspect of eve.

Appears to me that its an outcry for attention, to gain some sort of infamous reputation? Or once was a carebear that got killed some time ago in a high sec war and been determined ever since to get revenge.

But why this thread? Since your recent exploits are now useless it seems like this is another public outcry for attention. Maybe perhaps a last ditch effort to gain eve and forum social status.

1) Someone decided to randomly war dec someone else. Dunno don't care.

2) Dunno 20? 30?

3) No.

4) Don't think so. We PvP and no one pays attention to if they are war targets or not considering we are almost all below -5 and don't go into high sec.

5) Over 150 last time I cleared them all out.

6) Not a clue. People seem to like to war dec randomly.

He didn't do it for attention. He did it to bring the problem to the attention of CCP and other players.

I'm afraid this thread is premature. We've discovered a third method to keep everyone permanently trapped. We are resuming Dec Shield activities immediately

Oh I wouldn't say DecShield is at an end. CCP never closed the loophole regarding wardec shedding when joining and leaving an alliance. Wardecs are still easily evaded.

Yes they have. They just never told anyone what they did to fix it. All wardecs have an assigned end-date that can be extended by the aggressor paying the bill. Now when a corporation leaves an alliance it inherits the end-date from the parent war. This prevents us from infinitely renewing wars by bouncing corps in/out of alliance to hold all the wars open.

The old system was setting the end-date of wars to be the starting date +7 days. Since the start date of freshly shed wars was always the exact time the shedding occur. That allowed us to do the above exploit

1. We spanked Dark Taboo really hard on a contract, and after losing their most expensive POS (on their most valuable moon) they brought in one of the Dec Shield Ambassador corps in the last day of the war.

3. Yeah, first one was a Maelstrom traveling the Amarr/Jita pipe. We killed him.
4. Not to Dec Shield itself, but somehow the wars got copied over to an active alliance eventually. German Freakshow killed a bunch on patch day.

1. We declared war on a terrible alliance that lives in the same NPC nullsec we hang out in after we reset them for being morons, after dying over and over again they accepted a decshield ambassador because they thought that would help somehow.
2. I think I remember 36 being a number, but nobody was really counting.

5. Around 25-50 a day.
6. We actually already beat the snot out of the original target so hard they barely exist anymore. Please see this slope for more information.

My (few) last wardec targets were probably clueless, meh.
I actually began to train 2 new toons to join the Decshield, but one week before they were ready, CCP said it was getting stomp-nerfed. Meh².

I'm not sure... Are you talking about Brick Squad ? I've been blue for a long time but I joined recently the alliance (and the whole Yarrbear corp is -10 anyway so it's not like I would care much about wardecs atm).

We were dec'ed, but it was while we had a few active 0.0 contracts. So there was some interaction during supply runs and stuff, but very little beyond that.

Though if were were confined to Empire during the whole time, I guess I can see how it would have been a pain to operate.

According to Mittani.com, one of the directors from Gentlemens Agreement out of Vale is the same individual who runs Dec Shield. No idea how accurate that is.

We decided to go to a silly war because we were bored. They decided that we needed to be taught a "lesson".

I think that we had about 52ish at one time? Something like that.

War Targets? Ahh... no, not after our original dec expired, it seems that they didn't want to play anymore.

Lost Assets, yea to the original Dec, but not anything to Dec Shield Et All...

Notifications.... Wow... a crap load.... everyday. That part was annoying.

Justice? Who knows, probably not in via war deck and maybe not ever.

As an aside.... Dec Shield was kind of a fun thing to do when we were stuck in High-Sec looking for something to do.
