We should have an option to change our default setting.

As for sounds, I liked the old Gate Activation sound better than the new one.

There is the sound of a dental drill that happens semi-randomly and/or when NPC flags get created/time out.

Get rid of the dental drill alarms !!!!

All the weapon sounds are bad now, but big lasers are the worst. It's either pouring water out of a straw with compressed air (for beams) or kind of a soggy wet tea towel flick-splat sound (for Pulse).

Flat, insipid and dreary.
