Faction Standing Question

OK, so I never really paid much attention to faction standing or anything, but recently I've been trying to get onto the good side of the Minmatar and Gallente (in that order).

Here's the problem though, with Diplomacy 3 I had -.25 standing with the Minmatar, with Diplomacy 4...I still had -.25, started doing level 3 missions....still only -.25 (all raised from a static -2.20). I need some insight, multiple Minmatar NPC corps love me cause of my mission running, rat killing, etc. But I'm still just Neutral.

So question is; What's the deal?

Is it cause I'm Caldari? Is it cause I've been doing Caldari level 4 missions for the last 4 years and the Minmatar and Gallente will hate me forever? Is it cause of my corp/alliance?

How many missions have you done?

Don't forget to do the Data center missions for nice Faction bonuses.

Getting an entire faction to like you is hardwork, best not do it.

I must have spent 4 hours doing lvl 3 missions on this char and my alt (doing full rewards with this char and splitting them on my alt). Needless to say, I lost track of how many I did but it was quite a few, my standing g with the Gallente has been getting closer to 0 super fast. But Minmatar just wont budge past that -.25

I think also has do with the missions them self. I been doing Gallente missions for just as long. The Calari will hate me for ever,
The Minmatar like me almost as much. The Amarr don't like me much.
Missions are based against the faction the race hates.

That might be a good point, even though I'm doing lvl 3's, they are Distribution and Mining...

your FACTION standing will only increase if you do something that increases your FACTION standing... standard level 1-4 missions only increase your standing toward the corporation... you need to do storyline missions, which will be given toward you every 16 missions you do for that corp... or doing cosmos missions, which can only be done once per eve character life...

your own race does not count at all... but what counts are your action against a faction... like killing minmatar/gallente npcs in caldari missions... those actions will decrease your faction standing toward minmatar/gallente...

try to not get to -5.0 faction standing, or all agents above level 1 will not talking to you and the navys will annihilate you whenever you enter that factions space...

the good stuff about faction standing is that it is used instead of the corp standing WHEN it is higher than the corp standing... with a 4.0 faction standing you can use ALL level 1 to 4 missions for that faction... and with 5.0 faction standing you can even build a player owned station at a moon in a 0.5 system...
