"Klunk" Sound

I am enjoying the new sound effects so far (especially the blasters). I have heard a few complaints about the explosion sound effects though, but to clarify, the sound they are probably referring to is that overbearing "Klunk" sound that plays when someone drops a jet can. Its the same sound that plays when a ship explodes and drops a wreck. There are new explosion sound effects but they are are barely audible when played behind the "Klunk". Their volume is relative to the distance your camera is from the explosion, the "Klunk" isn't.

TLDR: Remove the "Klunk" sound from wreck drops.

I vote replace steel door sound with a loud "GONG".

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I hope to GOD The Door actually makes a gong sound when they do eventually open. A real long one too.

nope, it will make a whooshing sound as it finally opens to reveal its an open airlock and we all get sucked out to oblivion.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I have to agree with your assessment, and yes the "airlock Klunk" sound should only play when a can is jetisoned... not when a wreck is created.

Hear hear!

There are far too many new sounds that are played in addition to sounds that already exist: "Skill Training Completed" being one of the most iconic sounds of EVE Online, along with the sound of things exploding. When I blow something up I already have the confirmation that it has blown up by (a) the bright flash, (b) the explosion, (c) the target disappears from my locked targets list, and (d) there's a sound already associated with things blowing up, and it's the sound of something blowing up.

I think Team Klang has been a little over-enthusiastic with their "sounds for everyone" campaign :)

Nice work in general (the initial implementation of "you've now got a timer for X" every time you do X rather than just when the timer is created aside), but there are still some rough edges to rework.

Please, Team Klang, don't ever consider removing "Skill Training Completed." It's one of the defining sounds of EVE.

Well, for those who have sound Lol

+1

Also that same sound plays when you salvage a wreck and the result is a can. We do not need a jet can sound for that either. No can is being ejected from my ship, so dont play the jet can sound.

Space is a vacuum. Why is there any sound at all?

does any one actually like the new sounds?

they're mostly terrible and disliked from what i can tell. it's as if the sound overhaul was done to keep a few lucky people out of the unemployment line.

IMO new sound effects are a huge disappointment. I was expecting them to blow me off my chair, and their uber awesomeness bring me a whole new immersive experience of EVE.

Instead we got an unpolished, unfinished, underwhelming piece of poo.

And the klang..at all distances same loud volume klang. For the first time I actually turned the eve sounds completely off. After the expansion that was supposed to 'improve' the sound fx. Shocked

But I have hope ccp guys will pull cheese out of their ears, and get us an awesome sound fx update eventually(so I can turn the eve sounds on again).

Dit the jetcan sound get lowered in volume in the patches that we got this week? I still hear sounds when interacting with jetcans, but they are far less loud and thus no longer annoying.
