0 licensing? Anyone can register an app? Any registration processes or approval process?

There's already been a far degree of discussion about this kind of thing, in the 3rd party dev community (the fanfest round table was good).

Most of it positive, some of it 'oh god, that'd change things radicaly, and not in a good way'.

Rate limiting would, in general, fix much of the potential problems.

For example:

Invention: Right now, you're limited in the number of invention jobs you can run, by A, the number of slots you have, and b, the quantity of time you're willing to put in. inventing at a POS means you can put jobs in (for modules) about once an hour. A regular player probably wouldn't put in more than 5 or 6 sets of jobs. If you could do it through CREST, this number goes up to 24 (assuming you keep it stocked). That's a massive game change, and not a particularly positive one. Eve's always had a 'put more in, get more out' side. This would destroy that.

Manufacturing: Same as above, when it comes to T2 modules. Many have max run times below 24 hours. It takes someone /really/ dedicated (read insane) to put in 4 runs of something that takes 6 hours to complete. With an unlimited CREST, that becomes perfectly possible.

Markets: 0.01 isking goes insane if you're not more limited through CREST than you are through the game client.

Market Intelligence: This is a tricky one. I'd /like/ to see market information through the api, but I'd prefer it's not live data. Something aggregated would be better.

CREST has incredible potential, but it can be misused, if the devs aren't really careful.

(Please get the OAUTH2 authentication side up. Even without any write capability it'd be really nice to have)

There's been some chatter about this (other forum threads) There's been the suggestion (Not confirmed but they're looking at it) that CCP will be getting a cheap/free transaction you'll be able to do with your card to get the confirmation of address. So you won't need to have subscription paid by card at some time, to be able to sign up with it.

Since it seems that the write access is going to come slowly, I would like to know how soon the current read-only API can be converted over to CREST? It has a ton of bugs (I'm looking at you FacWarStats) that are not being fixed. There has also been new game features added (again percentage a system is contested in Faction Warfare) that has not been added to the old API nor ever will. Getting access to changing game features is a must and should not be a after thought!
