I do wish it wouldn't go into random spinning mode when you lose a target, though. I found that while mining earlier; popped the rat I was tracking, and the camera just span slowly in a circle. Dramatic, but nauseating.

I get a similar problem.
My camera spins around about 5 times very quickly then resets back onto my ship
I found this link on someone who has a similar issue.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glAGxBP-iyE

This problem happens when :

a) I jump through a stargate, when I reach the next system... VERY ANNOYING!!

b) When I start tracking something from the overview, then click the EMPTY SPACE (background) and drag it a little bit (like a cm), then let go.

Please fix this problem, it is making it very annoying to play like this.
Or send me a message in-game or mail me 'how to fix'.

Cheers

You can move the camera while it's tracking something! CCP you lied to me!

I was actually going to say, but then I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. It also occurred to me that it might be because my position relative to the tracked object was not really changing, but then you have to consider that I swung the view and left it at the new position and it tracked sideways from there.

Maybe this is a bug; if so, it is a good one.

By tracked sideways, I mean the position of the tracked object was off my screen, and that new relative position became the tracking reference. This effectively meant the tracked object stayed at that position, (off-screen), as I moved.

Haven't watched that vid, so I'm not sure if it is the same thing.

I found out how to reproduce this bug every time after login.
-Turn on tracking camera
-Go to map F10 start click on overview item randomly like gate, planets, belts
-Turn off map
-From now camera will spin randomly when you try adjust camere view after tracking camera is on target

I also have the wildly spinning camera every time the below happens, which is all the time; this has become so annoying that I may just wait for a patch before continuing to play. Is there a way to disable the tracking camera option entirely?

Apparently I was mistaken on the tracking change. When I was playing today, it just disabled tracking when I clicked and swiped on the screen. I wasn't particularly aware of it, and thought it might have been doing something else when I read this thread. Unless maybe it was and isn't anymore, but I think it wasn't.

Please do not break the tracking camera. It is an awesome tool to use with the ship scanner.

So when you "fix" the tracking, don't break the functionality Blink

Yeah totally game changing feature, considering the only people that have time to use it are carebearing away, while the other half have brackets turned off and zoomed all the way out while the server lags out.

I think some sort of logo or notification to show you've turned the camera on or off would be good. I got really confused last night :(

If you take a look at the top of your overview, when you press 'c' it toggles the word 'Tracking' on and off.
I did not see that initially.

Tracking camera is great. Good feature.

I agree it's amazing.

I did notice an issue with drones though. When you you're managing your drones, sometimes you start tracking them and get some dizzing effects if they're orbiting your ship. Maybe this can be turned off for drones or give us an on/off potion for them.

Drones are a valid point, they can be quite fun though, especially hitching a ride on combat drones and track the target from there. But i see how tracking a fast moving drone around your ship could make you sick Ugh

Another sea sick case is having tracking on during "Rogue slave traders" L4. The slave compound is straight down, so the camera points that way, then tends to wallow around in roll quite a bit.

I absolutely love it too, although I did get a lil bit dizzy last night shooting fireworks and tracking an orbiting Inty from another orbiting Inty...

But all was well! Such a lovely feature!

It has a habit to back to tracking modus after you switch back from another windowed client, even if you turned it off before. Quite annoying. It has its uses for sure but in many cases it's just annoying.
