done playing miner now. sold the orca. maybe with all the random flagging in highsec i can see how i look in big kid pants and get some practice fighting for realz.

After i inevitably lose a dozen or more ships learning the ropes.

How's the thorax looking for violence so far? Green space weenie needs targets.

Isnt mining and industry/manufacturing/research etc etc 2 different things ?

Opportunities multiply as they are seized.

Been doing all of it. letting the mining/builder lapse, ditching mining command ship, focusing on combat. I think ive had my fill of ye olde indy grind. Im losing interest.

Shocked

Anyone who is actually serious about industry wouldn't waste one second sitting in a mining ship. It is one of the most unprofitable ways of using your time.

Thats rather subjective.. if the alternative is logging off, sitting in a mining ship *can* be profitable

Ammo, freighters, working on t2, fighters, the list is fairly long. it was profitable when i could muster interest.

But its not really... Interesting.

I'm involved in freighters and all sorts of ships.

Oddly, i started in T2 then moved to tech 1 gear. I found the amount of steps involved in the t2 build process to be tremendously tedious.

Welcome to violence!

The thorax'll be an admirable start to this: cheap, versatile, plenty of hitting power - especially after Retribution.
And remember, you'll lose as many of those as you kill, if not more, but all explosions are pretty.

Have fun!

Except - most industry pilots have multiple miner accounts. When you start to add up the m3/hour horizontally across all these accounts, mining becomes very profitable indeed. The problem is 6 mining ships sitting in a belt are a juicy, juicy target for all sorts of interference (suicide ganking, bumping, etc). This erodes away profits. If only there was a way to prevent people from doing that. Oh, there is! But it's not in empire :)

Get a Talos.

So far my talos is my favorite ship hands down. but i think learning pvp at 100 million isk/pop may be unsustainable.
