By the way, is there a need to record sound? I seem to have gotten it into my head that the exhibitions won't have audio and that I can cut down on the filesize/listen to my own music as I record gameplay.

yes please, keep sound in there, but keep music volume to 0, as we will add music to it. It will be up to the person doing the edits how much original sound he uses, but having the source gives him a better choice.

Thanks!!

TBH the "waive" your copyright isn't an issue.

It's well under the fair use act any way you cut it - Using it for a museum exhibition is for educational purposes.

INCENTIVE NEEDED!

players doing work for CCP by providing their recorded material to CCP, should be compensated. Since this collage is one of the rare massmedia promotionof the game and the dust eve universe.
give people, whos material is shown in the final collage some thing. PLEX, Instant finish of one skill of choice (i get chills thinking about this ^^), implants, ships, i could go on here. But i honestly think that for what people will do here (put effort, time and nerves in etc.), and what CCP gets out of it, is not a fair trade.

happy capturing/editing

My apologies, but I made my recordings before I read this bit, and it took me some 2-3 hours to find a suitable mission, so I don't really feel like repeating the process to see if I can find another one. Also, they're uploading atm, with one nearly done and the others in queue.

It should be just game sound and music; not sure you can edit one out without the other, without using some seriously expensive toys, but it might help to know that I never hear the game anyway as I only have headphones and rarely use them. Blink

tl;dr, my experience is without sound, so if you'd like to use some of my recordings, you can always just delete the sound layer and run it from there, and you'll have my experience. Lol

edit: unfortunately, my fraps is also the free version as I don't have access to the email, (doesn't exist anymore afaik), which I used to purchase it, so I do have the .fraps.com watermark top center. Not sure if that's an issue or not. If it is, along with the sound, I'm sure there will be plenty of other good video clips to make use of anyway. Smile

Anybody able to capture 1920x1200 in close to lossless quality yet? I still haven't figured it out. I don't think CamStudio can do it.

Asking EVE players to make this the most interesting day in EVE ever.

...Yeah, no way that could go wrong.

Hey everyone, I'd like to extend our deepest thanks to all those that took part in today's capture.

There are already lots of cool videos that have been uploaded to the CCP Archivist mailbox. Tonight, three of us from CCP roamed around in cloaked ships and recorded some amazing fights and views around the universe. There are probably more people yet to upload their submissions, but from what we have so far, it's been great.

Thanks for your help to capture this moment!

I sent in one just, but did not realize to turn the game sound off. do I need to go out and record it again, or is it automatic disqualifying as a contribution if the game music was on

If no one else has, someone needs to road trip out to the EVE Gate - I did but dunna bout the quality, since this is one of the most important places in the canon history of the game (IMO)

A short dialog proposal (Parentheses explain what is on the video at the time):
---
There's dozens of ships (view of ships shown 1 by 1 in hangar, only a fraction of a second to view each one)
There's countless millions of ways to fit a ship (stops on one ship, opens fitting, countless different fits flash by)
to counter every possible tactic you may come across (a few quick examples of tactics, webbing, jump drive hot-drop, fighters, cruisers, carriers etc)
but Sun Tzu says "reinforce everywhere, and you will everywhere be weak" (Sun Tzu in different voice)(perhaps zoom in on a fitting that improves all four resistances),
so you must chose to be weak in some ways to be strong in others (resistances when you just improve one or two of them).

Trade, for some a way to sustain themselves, for others, a game to pass the time (you can find something I'm sure).
Make heavy profits by buying everything of something in a region, then sell it as the prices go up, and laugh while others loose it all because they believed they could make money off the short increase in prices. Stockpile goods and start a war to increase the market for your goods. Or stop a war someone else started to sell their goods and get it all at bargain prices. The price history in EVE Online is like cave-paintings, saying "Here I had some fun, and there my rivals were eaten by bears".
---
Dialog suggestion ended.
Just my two cents. I find EVE Online exactly like art actually. Its as if we painted everything we do in real life (there's statistics on a whole other level than in real world, like descriptions of what happened). Just one of the videos about how the map has changed during the years due to conflict is like a series of paintings, describing one view of things, one perspective. Imagine how many who quit Eve Online to never come back in all those wars, and imagine how many who were inspired to continue on, even through every single war. Its frankly, weird Eve Online haven't gotten the status of art before.

Hey, I am working through about 3 hours of footage on top of working around getting my 16:10 ratio display and recording dimensions to look best in 16:9 Youtube video.
Anyway, I'm just wondering what sort of Deadline we are looking at for this as their is simply a lot of meticulous editing I must attend to along with simply time consuming processor rendering in order for this presentation to be the best it can be.

Sorry, I guess I'm running a little late in getting this submitted as looking at the previous comments.

Also, unfortunately instructions were not totally clear on the blog entry itself and I recorded with in-game music on. As sound does not travel in space IRL, I do not play with World Sounds on, so only sounds in my recordings are the sounds of in-game music, UI Sounds, and chatter from TeamSpeak.

I hope my video can still be useful to you, I will be submitting it to Youtube once completely edited, etc.

Depending on how much time we have I could edit the audio track myself to remove as much music as possible.

... or, you know, just to throw this idea out there...

Now that everyone has Fraps installed and knows how to produce videos/has had practice with the new tracking camera in-game, you guys could make next Sunday the big day and you will get even better footage.
