Skills limited in trial?

I have progressed to the 3rd stage of two tutorials.

Am I correct in assuming that I cannot obtain the necessary skills to complete the tutorials unless I upgrade from the trial account?

That is, are the trial accounts limited in the skills that can be aquired?

Thanks

yes they are ... but only in certain areas that will really affect a trial account (Racial Industrial, Mining Barge, possibly a few others).

if you simply need a new skill (e.g. hacking) to complete the tutorial, then buy the book from the market and train it

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

To an extent. If you're required to use a certain skill in the Tutorials (namely for the Hacking and Codebreaking missions, might be some others), you will be provided with a module that will allow you to do the required skill without having trained it (your mission Agent will inform you of this.) The module thereafter can't be used for any skill outside of that mission.

It's not terrbily fresh in my mind, as it's been a while, but the only skill that I could have potentially needed was the racial Industrial skill. The skill is Trial restricted, but there's a way to complete that specifc mission without having the Industrial skill learned. (Unless you're fortunate enough to find a free manufacturing slot in the station you deliver the item to that will complete in the required time frame....but you need to be extremely lucky for that to happen.)

Industrial piloting and contracting are the only ones you'll bump into during the trial period. All the rest are for advanced ships/features and will take significantly more then two weeks to get into,

As Ines said, mainly the "high-end" skills are restricted but most of the "low-end" skills are not, the exception to this is Contracting and Industrial skills as trials cannot make contracts anyway and they don't want people making throw-away alts purely for hauling (transporting) items while they are at war on their main accounts.

Skills like this can be identified as when you look at their information screen it will state:

"Cannot be trained on trial accounts"

The battlecruiser skill is also restricted I believe.

it is possible with some guidance to have skills to put an ok fit on a battlecruiser before the end of a 21 day buddy invite. Even then you can train every skill you need for it on trial and just train the actual battlecruiser skill right after you sub.

I have not yet had an issue completing all the tutorial missions with trial characters, nor have I ever had problems finding free manufacturing slots in tutorial stations.

Perhaps I'm just lucky, or perhaps it's because I have so few Caldari characters?

There was one skill I keep having to buy from the market though, and although I keep thinking at the time that I should report it, I keep forgetting. It's probably "Survey" which is required to train the free "Salvaging" skill.

Hauler limits are to keep ISK grinders at bay, there used to be a plaque of hauler bots grinding courier missions and strip mining belts dry.

It happened to me a couple times on this character, and once on my Gallente, where I was just barely able to turn in the manufacturing mission within the bonus time frame due to there being almost no manufacturing slots available at a station. That could have been my natural very bad luck shining through, however. :)

This is correct. The trial limitations are put in place not to limit those taking the trial to try out the game from having the full experience, but to stop actual players from abusing the trial system via various tricks. As such, the skills that are restricted are those that subscribed players would abuse, such as the industrial skill (free neutral alt for moving **** around).

As such, the tutorial is fully completable with a trial account.
