Dose anyone dislike the new sound n visual effect of the ship explosion?

On the subject of sound, I would very much like CCP to remove the briefly thunderous scraping sound that occurs whenever I pass through a stargate. Being confronted with a stunning new vista is somewhat undermined when you're involuntarily visualising a slab of concrete sliding down a metal ramp.

Think about it.

I'm... baffled by the new sounds. They've taken a lot of impact; a lot of bass and weight out of the new stuff. It's all really wimpy and annoying sounding.

And this one EVE Fanfest 2012.

Thanks Alexandar for your posting about that promising future things that you found out,but that plans really have a long way to go to come ture in the game and now CCP needs to offer an instant tweak about lots of the details in RETRIBUTION!

Yes, I'm aware of that. but are nice things to look for. I said earlier that new explosions are beautiful but just as you said "instant tweak" , and by that I mean just little tweaking is needed for them to go from beautiful to fantastic.

There is a lot of potential in them right now but somehow it feels they are "just about to be finished". I don't think that CCP need to redone or reinvent explosions right now because, in my opinion, they are really nice and unique as they are.

Maybe just a little bit more playing with light intensity and animation speed would make them perfect.

Some develpement guys response on this would be nice.

The third patch still have no tweak about the explosion n sounds!! Hope CCP wont neglect this due to the cheer of the rising amount of the online player recently!

As an old FPS'er who used to "soundwhore" with a headset, I absolutely love it since the sound happens even if you aren't facing it.

I haven't heard how a smartbomb would clear a fleet of drones however, so I'll reserve judgement for now lol.

Yup,thats very ture! I also heard the explosion effect from close but it sounds so bad of the explosion echo from a distance,it was not like an explosion,I cant describe what that explosion sounds like.....so weird sounding!!!
Hope CCP can fix the very terrible ship explosion effect and the explosion echo!!!

Yes, there is bug in the new explosion sound for small ships (frigates and smaller)

It will be fixed in an upcoming patch.

There is a bug in most all ship explosions. Anything that makes a can, or a wreck containing loot, causes a "Klunk" to play. I understand its the jet can sound. Well, it is true that a container is being created, but its not being dropped from my ship, so the "dropping a jet can" sound should not be played.

Because when the wreck is salvaged the result is the creation of a jet can. So the game plays the "drop a jet can" sound. I agree it should not be doing so.

I'm not sure about ship explosions, I think they are okay, but the sound when a pod enters space is a stupid "Schlonk". I don't think it should have a sound at all, much less a sound thats louder than the explosion. Or a sound sounds like nothing I can imagine. Did you randomize a sound effect for this?

I don't care what the sound is, only from where it's coming from. It's called situational awareness. But more to the point, you can't accept a sound of an explosion sounds like an explosion? That's what gunshots are....

And also keep in mind, if you want to be a purist/eve enthusiast about it... the sounds you here ingame are meant to be synthesized by your ship to give a pilot "realism" (ingame not player) by mimicking what would be, if space had sound.

Layers and layers in layers.

I wish they would strip out the sounds and put them in a sub-folder so that we can change them out (or delete them). The worst overall offender is the ukulele-tin-screech noise when you are zoomed in to your ship inside a POS shield, but the flag noise and jet-can shipe exploding noise are a very close second. The warp sound is absolutely lacking in any excitement whatsoever.

Also, if the music is turned off, don't play it as 'ambiance' when I open the star map. Off should be off.

Firstly, agree with OP that the the ship explosion sound is not great. Bit too high-end and gutless, but at the same time slightly too loud in the mix. Maybe put it through a low pass filter or something? I would like more of a muffled thud personally.

Have to say though, that I just came back to Eve after 6 months or so and I like it that the sounds actually work now. Before, it was bad,.....really bad, sounds did not trigger at all sometimes. Now the sound engine seems much more consistent and the positional audio seems better. Fine tuning samples with a more solid sound engine shouldn't be too hard for CCP I guess.

I dont think your plan is workable in EVE,One DEV staff has said the explosion is in RETRIBUTION now BLA BLA BLA ,so I think that means they dont want to give more tweak about it ,maybe the sound as well ,seems that CCP is becoming more and more confident and mighty, then would like to let our players to get used to their taste in everywhere in the game ..although lots of tastes of their artists are really poor!!! soooo.....not to mention your idea!

Now thats some nice explosions

I hope they just did turrets overhauling, missile launcher overhauling and now is explosions next turn

the thing we got now where someone just bangs on a metal bucket everytime something pops is...well just not fitting in such a beautiful game.

From my point of view Retribution was a great expansion. Even the login screen music is amazing. i love the new music features for hi low null etc also... Then i saw a battleship explode and heard it too.

Honestly it doesnt bother me that much as when in combat im focusing on the situation and not the effects. The medium and small autocannons sound delicious to me. Blasters also sound nice. Lasers i havent heard much so i can't have a stand on their sounds.

Heavy minmitar weapons lack the awe inspiring sounds of 1400s flying through space and the 800s do sound very... dull? (dont you touch mah 425s though!!! They sound lovely!)

Search for sound footage of the German 600mm mortar and the Schwerer Gustav 800mm Railway Gun and compare that to what we have for the big guns

Yep gotta agree that the explosions suck now, both visually and in sound.

CCP, if you want good explosions look at Homeworld 2 videos on youtube. That game has one of the best explosion systems that I've seen in a space game and it's only 4 months younger than eve. AND it hasn't been in development for 10 years.

HW2 Link - Note: this is a video with a graphics update mod, but the explosion is the same as in the original game

I would personally love to see Homeworld's interceptor gun sound used for autocannons, maybe smalls cause I don't think they have the "punch" feel needed for medium or large ac's. Also, drones apear to have no gun sound.

P.S. CCP should also hear what ion cannons on HW beam frigs, destroyers, and battle cruisers sound like.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

I like them, but maybe that's because all I kill are rogue drones and the BrrRRZZT makes me think of what a drone would sound like on aggro/when it dies.....but why does the sound repeat when the last one dies? is it an indication of no enemies remaining on grid? Usually by the time that the sound has happened, the next wave is spawned
