I just figured why try to have something completely different when you can just get a ship to fulfill a role using current mechanics.

(to justify such a ship) Of course, the only reason why people would use the ore hauler to haul ore over, say, a mackinaw, is that it's faster, cheaper, and easier to skill into. On the same note, it's worse than said ship for mining due to either a lack of turret slots or having only one turret max.

The notion of a "Q-ship" role seems sort off, since having designated Q-ship hull will indicate to pirates "These ships have teeth and aren't worth anything." Making a Q-ship should be a matter of squeezing offensive modules unexpectedly onto regular industrials. It will still be utter crap in a straight up fight, but it's relying more on the surprise buttsex aspect than actual fighting ability anyway. Enhancing the options for Q-ship pilots is better done with new modules and rigs anyway.

Space Indiamen might be better. Still capable of carrying a lot of cargo, still slow as molasses in January, but with respectable tank and firepower such that attacking an unescorted convoy of them is not something done carelessly or casually.

How come minmatar and amarr get unique hulls each type and caldari and gallente just get more cars added to the train. Some they can't even be bothered to move the thrusters further back.

I'd suggest, dare I, a module be introduced with them and only for use on them, that when activated/installed, changs its designation on the overview to a vanilla hauler. Thus people may lock it think "hur hur Itty V hauler edition" and when it open up on the aggressor the module deactivates and the ship's true identity is revealed on the overview.

Of course, I'm now convincing myself this is a T2 class of hull with fancy modules like that.

Also why do we need five iterons anyway? Do we need an entry level ship and then another one that takes 30 minutes to unlock? No way you can find special roles for all five of the things. Unless said roll was the power to weld more trains to the back at the cost of speed. By the time you reach a freighters volume you warp at .01 au/s and your ship makes a better baseball bat on the undock than a hauler.

Actually that sounds awesome. Ill name mine the "Slim Jim".

As for caldari the mark I being a nimbler ship at sublight speeds that is faster in warp seems like a good tradeoff for hauling and pvp.

Given that the OP has five roles, and the Gallente have five haulers, I think the Gallente are perfectly set up to have all five while the others have to pick and choose.

Still approve of dis.

Seems like a heavy use of dev time for only one races set of haulers.

Perhaps a hull with bonuses to how much HP is received from armor and shield transfer arrays and relatively high EHP to be good for caravan fleets. The reason for this would be to go along with my idea for adding more lowsec to separate the empires as suggested by the thread in my signature.

I think the way to increase armour hp recieved is to increase the resist profile; if you do both then logi would be doubly-effective (c.f. your opinion and mine on the cnstant armour repper).

I like how the Hoarder looks.. its my favorite Industrial.. D:

It looks like I'd imagine an actual space-based transport would look, a **** ton of boxes stuck together screaming curses at physics and laughing maniacally all the way to the next system.

Well, it seems that the Blockade Runners now prevent cargo scans - so that is one part of Tiercide Industrials underway. OP edited to reflect this.

A well conceived idea!

AFK Cloaking? An afk cloaker has never ganked me. In fact a cloaker at his keybourd has never ganked me either.

Q-ships would be a really great thing in eve, but I would suggest a different approach:
Just introduce a medium sized rig that will be restricted to T1 cruisers only, that disguises your cruiser as an industrial of the same race.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

You DO realize that rigs only modify a ship, right? also, frigates and/or destroyers would be better off since they can actually fit within the volume that a hauler normally take up(not to mention having more similar characteristics with the added mass).

As for previous comments about only Gallente getting 5 industrials and everyone else getting a handful, that should be rectified by giving MORE INDUSTRIALS FOR EVERYONE. I.E. the Caldari and Amarr will get two more (at least) and the Minmatar will get (at least) another bolted-together scrapheap that they happen to call an industrial.
