I think it's more important to note how often some carriers end up with text messages that don't get delivered for hours, and sometimes days, and the occurrence of texts going to the wrong phone entirely when they are sent.

The latter seems to be particular to group plans, with a message sent to one person in the group landing on another members phone. Sometimes I think it does happen that the text will land on a group phone when sent to someone outside the group, but I can't know if that has happened as some messages just never arrive, but you don't know if they got lost or just ended up somewhere else.
