I'm showing my balance in public. Am I in trouble?

Hi!

I have just finished a website that shows some information about my character including my balance. The website is public and I wonder, is it safe to view my balance like this? I know that more ISK results in more interests for other players but is it even possible to hack another wallet and steal my money like in a bank?

No they can not hack you in game. People can hack your account but that is outside the game. There isn't much to sweat over if you take basic protection.

If you could move most of your money to an Alt off the site you are better off anyway. Makes double sure you don't misclick or misread fall for one of those extra 0 scams.

You can also get a custom API Key that doesn't show that information.

I'm showing most of my information that I can read in my character sheet in-game including the balance of course.I have basic protection and I'm not accepting any invites or something like that. Only money from another person to my account if they want to give me some without me saying anything.

So it's with other words safe?

As you can see from the list on the right side of eveboard.com, a lot of people are displaying their character data. Some include the wallet, others don't. Not sure how eveboard compares to your website, but it's used for keeping track of characters, so buyers can check characters for sale, alliances can check their members, etc. It offers a password if you want to make your character private.

But in any case, others are displaying that information, if that's any help to you. The API access won't allow your in-game character to be hacked.

Sure, but keep in mind that people can see that information, and make decisions such as whether or not to let you in a corp, whether or not to put bounties on you, your character names to be located by locator agents, etc. And, google and other search engines have a cache/history, so that even if you take your website down in a hurry the information could still be present on the internets. Like this site, which saves everything we say for posterity, so it's present even if we delete it.

There are lots of talented people out there who have made lots of tools for this game.
