Give us back the old inventory system

I can't believe that, after almost 6 months of being released, the inventory system still has not been fixed. It's really ******* annoying that it takes upwards of 60 seconds sometimes for the corporation tab of the inventory system to open. Its completely ridiculous. Isn't it about time you gave us the option of using the old inventory system again? It was so much better.

From my experience, what I think would REALLY help would be to cache all of the icon graphics locally. When I'm here at work I really hate opening my inventory hangars, and click--- wait--- click--- wait--- click--- wait... while icons load. Caching these locally would NOT take a lot of room, and part of the "gathering information" on login could easy do a quick look-up on the mothership for updated icons, download if necessary.

On a side note, I really hate that double-clicking in the hangar only gives me the ship hangar info; no longer displays the COMPLETE inventory selectable on the left side of the inventory window. Got used to it in the last few months, and now it's annoying to habitually double click for inventory, and only see the ship hangar. Really wish that were put back, but whatever...

They can't go back and have said this several times, the system is deeper than just an interface, the entire database and systems under it were changed too.

So far I'm loving the compact mode for my ship cargo :D

If you're still having long wait times perhaps send some info off to CCP in a petition or a bug report (honestly not sure which I'd go with in this case) and give them an idea of how many and what types of items are in the slow loading hangers. They just recently fixed a big loading problem with bookmarks, maybe large numbers of BPC could be doing something similar for instance?

And besides, would you really prefer the old system that sat blank until it loaded? At least now we have a spinny thing that tells us it's still working and that our whole hanger hasn't been pilfered.

It doesn't? It ignores the setting and keeps showing you separated trees?

As usual I'd suggest a clearing of the cache and trying again but if it's still there then I'd file a bug report. Use the in-game bug reporter and show them how only part of the tree is showing with the menu open showing how the option is set.

....speaking of which I should probably report the fact that the never ending flashing "locking" text is still there...

Perhaps a quick re-read of what I posted. ;-) Double click, Inventory window opens FOR SHIP, displaying ship cargohold on left, with maybe the extras if that ship has any (Drone bay, cans in cargohold, etc). Checking or checking-and-unchecking-and-rechecking the "full tree" option on the option menu upper left has ZERO EFFECT. I still only see what I described above in the current window, or if I close and re-open it, the same thing.

I have to hit the inventory button on the left side to get a full tree. And yes, did the cache clearing thing. Getting tired of doing that regularly, too (for example, opening a cargo container/wreck in space sometimes ONLY works when I'm sitting a 50m (that's FIFTY METERS off the can or directly on top of it. The 2500m doesn't always work any more).

But back to my original post, I'd love to see the item icons cached locally. That would really help with slow connections.

Well the 2500m thing tends to be a desynch thing, your client says you're 2500m from the can but the server says you're 2590m away....something like that. I find these cases are pretty rare...

Based on what you're saying that means that the tree option really is bugged and you need to report that. That the least it should effect the window from closing and reopening it after setting the option if it doesn't effect the tree instantly.

New inventory system is full of win. Although a small video by CCP Arrow showing all the things you can do with it wouldn't hurt.

Oh I don't know. Almost all the issues I saw have been dealt with by now — options are in place, automation and context-sensitivity is back, speed is up, and they've even reduced the bloat beyond what you could get before.

Yes, ideally, this should have been the state it was released in, but I'd say that it's now better than the old system.

I do have to agree the UI is getting a little better but is still crap compared to the older inventory system, if the UI is embedded as deep as posted above the old superior inventory system is most likely gone for good, or until they do another heavy rewrite and re-implement the superior inventory system a few years in the future.

Either way I will still be here playing the game I love even though I'm being forced to use a crappy inventory system.

Whomever is making the last few years decisions on what changes are to be implemented in this game, must hate Eve with all their being.
