Common misconception.

Transsexual is in fact a borough of Birkenhead, more usually known as Tranmere, which has been since time immemorial a refuge for 3rd rate footballers, a large community of sexually confused northern folk and the site of the headquarters of the UK's very first Town Rapists Guild at Prenton Park... there also being some overlap between the three groups.

This area was initially made famous by an old music hall song in the 1890s - "Sweet Transvestite from Transsexual Tranmere" and was a whimsical ditty about a certain (possibly mythical) lady of the night known variously as The Volclay Blower, Scotch Betty, the Seabank Tranny and other sobriquets (don't ask.... just don't).

By the time Richard O'Brien came to write the musical Rocky Horror Picture Show the copyright on the original tune had long since expired and he re-wrote it to suit his production, but stuck a reference to Transylvania in there instead as everyone knows that vampires and anything to do with them are just cool.

I have repeatedly tried to modify the wiki entries on numerous related subjects to reflect the actual truth, but the deniers at wikipaedoa keep undoing the changes. Glad I could set the record straight in here.
