I have absolutely no problem with people putting bounties on my head, nor do I have any issues with the bounty system in general. I like how it works now.

What I do not like, however, is the big fat WANTED sign on my portrait when people info me. It makes me look like a bad guy (hm, I might actually be a bad guy, but that's besides the point).

WANTED posters were historically (and still are) posted by authorities, for actual crimes, not because some scrub with too much money wants to see me dead.

I would suggest only showing the WANTED sign if the person actually has negative sec status, as before.
Edit: or if the person has killrights on him available.

Or make a nicer looking sign illustrating that the person has bounty which does not make you look like a criminal evil mind for people who have higher sec status.

i think its to make noobs fell happy,

but at the end all eve players are total ass holes that should have a wanted sing over there heads in some way, so any one who wants you dead for even a small price should get there selves satisfied, (even if its just a noob in an iteron that you just can flipped... i mean in a navitas... iterons never dock...)
non in the less this is gonna calm down at some poitn in 4 weeks or so.... from there CCP is gonna deside something im sure.. its just a new toy rigth now, just go kill your self in a free ship a couple time its gonna disappear

Got a wanted sign too ... was only in jita buying in some modules for my venture ...

Maybe we can get this "Wanted" out and get a red triangle in the corner of the picture ... like the modules and ships it got.

What ever standings you have with Concord is irrelevent, if I place a bounty on your head it means you're wanted.
Suck it up fuzzballs. Lol

Destination SkillQueue:- It's like assuming the Lions will ignore you in the Savannah, if you're small, fat and look helpless.

You suggested that the authorities only historically created wanted signs. I'm pointing out that in Eve your standing with Concord is irrelevent. Even before this change, wanted signs were created by the players placement of a bounty. It just that now the security status restriction has been removed. I edited that post so as not to flame too much. But whatever.

Came expecting tears, didn't leave disappointed. Big smile

You're still missing the point :P

In EVE identity is everything.

WANTED posters have deep criminal connotations. The first word that springs to mind when I see such a notice is "criminal" .

While I agree a civilian entity placing a bounty on me technically makes me wanted, it does not mean I am a criminal. Heck, one does not even need a reason to place a bounty, and indeed people are placing bounties just for lulz, which is fine by me.

I simply do not want the criminal implication, that's all.

(oh and the text obscures my sexy chest!)

But I've decided that whatever you did to p*ss me off, is criminal in my eyes. That's why you're wanted, for crimes against my personal convictions. Chest hair being one of them. P

I have to agree that any "WANTED" epithet is coupled with being a Criminal. Being a Criminal is mostly if not always decided by the governments, which in EVE's case is solely the responsibility of CONCORD.

What Mag is talking about is personal standing which should be set by contact adding and editing, not by setting a Wanted sign on the player in question.

Factions like Player Alliances and the Empire Factions also set standing against various Players, Corporations, and other Alliances if they are considered Enemies of said Faction. Does not warrant a "Wanted" sign either.

The only other "Wanted" sign in the game is placed on NPC ships with bounties on them. These bounties though are set by Concord, not by players, and because the NPC's are criminals due to "sec status", if sec-status was something set on NPC's.
This would to me indicate that any Wanted sign on a player should require both a low sec-status and bounty placed on the players head, preferably by Concord itself.

Player based bounties should not give a "Wanted" sign as bounties can be placed willy-nilly for any reason or no reason at all.

I do think an icon could be used to symbolize that a player has a bounty on him or her, or on his or her Corporation or Alliance but that the criminalistic "Wanted" sign is both too intrusive as well as not easy enough to find. Not everyone takes "Show Info" on everyone else. A better way to do it could be a little greenish $ icon in the chat like the little icons for Suspect and Criminal are now.

I agree. The wanted sign takes up like 1/3 of the portrait, or more. It does not fit its purpose.

I think the wanted sign should reflect the sec status rather than bounty as said with the criminal connections, maybe for the ones with positive status it can say "loved" Lol

But it's seriously way to big for the portrait.

Wanted signs have been set on players by other players since bounties were allowed. Again, you're confusing your sec status with your bounty status. They are not connected.

The only difference is that now we can set them on anyone, whereas before it was only on those with -1. But even back then, you could have a bounty on people with high sec status. It was and still is, a player driven mechanic.

They may be willy nilly to you, or seemingly have no reason. But that's not your call to make, only his/hers.

I will say one thing though, the original wanted sign was slightly smaller and looked better. Lol
