Hard to say much about this until we see how the new system works out in practice, but since it's basically the one I proposed, I'm in favour of it Cool

When will we be able to place bounties on individual objects (SBU's, IHUB's, POS's, etc.)?

From the Retribution patch notes:

Quote:
Bounty is now claimed on anything that generates a Kill Report. This includes, ships, pods and structures.

Instead of having a "LIKE" button, I just want to be able to place bounties on people through the forums. Cool

Future feature - make bounties of different types and have some of those types actionable without CONCORD protection in Highsec.

Placing a bounty on a non-criminal should be a criminal offense -resulting in a flagged status and security level reduction for the duration of the bounty.

The "WANTED" logo space on character profiles should be reserved for use by Concord. For bounties, bounty hunters could consult the bounty tools / offices. At least use the word "BOUNTY" on in-game character portraits so as to differentiate between a legal notice from Concord versus a notice that is resultant of someone who's feelings were hurt on the forums.

Edit...
I wish to be taxed, please, whenever I place a bounty. Thank you.
This should Really happen. Think of it as balancing. (Mmmm.... balancing.) Only the S.C.C. shouldn't get the tax but rather the mafia -or at least some pirate NPC corp. Of course, those who have trained the Criminal Connections skill to level 5 would not be allowed to pay as much. Cry

I wonder why it is that a contract can be created for a two-week period yet a bounty is forever.
What about a broker / hit man fee for bounties?

"Hi, we're CCP, we've just made a new feature and now we're going to punish people who try to use it!"

The whole point of the new bounty system is that it has been opened up so that you can bounty people for your own reasons, rather than forcing it into the straightjacket it previously occupied. Somebody smacked you in local? Bounty them. Want to incentise gankers in the space of your enemies? Bounty them. Someone made a bad post on eve-o? Bounty them.

Given the large and increasing number of people who are apparently independently making this suggestion, I propose that you add this feature to the "GIT 'ER DONE" list

So you want me to have a GCC for putting a bounty on the guy who just stole all our corp's assets?

Why? Sad

Wouldn't that be a "DISLIKE" button? If so, I like it.

I would like to see bounties on applicable by characters over 5 mill SP

EvE is a place for consequences, not a place for cowards using disposable alts.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

Expiration of Bounties after 30-90 days, at which time unused bounties are refunded (minus fees). I think I saw Soniclover saying standard refund was 80% which sounds fine.

Expiration needs to be long enough so most people won't just log out for the duration, but within a period that doesn't seem like too long off. No more than 90 I would think.

I don't buy CSM Aleks' argument (made elsewhere) that the expiration would sap faith in the system, in fact I would argue that a bounty that never was claimed would do more harm in that respect. People knowing it was my enemy's destruction or your iskies back (minus fees) would actually be a bigger selling point, IMHO.

Perma bounties are less desirable for several reasons. I do think they sap faith in the system if they are never redeemed in anyway. They also hang over the now "WANTED" character like a cloud unless they decide its annoying enough to alt-kill themselves enough to get rid of it. I think there needs to be hope that they can beat the bounty. PvP should go both ways.

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.

That could be fun, or annoying. You are reported to the person you bountied, so they could just place an equal amount on your head or more. But then you make alts to place bounties on the trolls, then if that caught on, most people would only talk with alts on the forums, since the other people were escaping the bounty game.

Well if he was a good thief, he will have more money then you do. I wouldn't be so quick to **** him off by placing a bounty on his head.

Of course you live in 0.0 most likely so that wouldn't matter, not so sure where a corp thief would live at though.

There's no possible way that this could go horribly wrong!

But what about all these new players that we're constantly being told are instantly griefed as soon as they log in?

Well maybe anything below a certain point should not be able to take part in the bounty system. 5 mill SP for instance, EvEs point where you are counted as a citisen and able to show in statistics.

The idea of setting arbitrary SP limits on certain aspects of the game is an uncomfortable precedent to set. If you need 5m SP to place or receive bounties, what's next? 7m before you can canflip? 10m before you can enter lowsec?

Especially when the reason for such a change is as spurious as "rarrrr alt cowards!!!1"

"Look any reason why you need to talk like that? I have now reported you. I dont need to listen to your bad tone. If you cant have a grown up conversation then leave the thread["
