Rifter Left Behind - Proposal for Change

I know there has already been plenty of QQ about this already but I haven't really heard any specific proposals for it. I acknowledge that the Rifter is still a good ship and I certainly don't want to return to the "Rifter Beats All" meta from before the winter frig changes. However the Slasher IMO has overtaken the role of the Rifter. It is faster, has less EHP but can have an equally competitive tank with an ASB and has roughly the same damage and utility (if not slightly more because of the extra mid). I think the rifter could do with a falloff bonus (instead of a tracking bonus) to differentiate it from the role that the slasher currently fulfills. This allows it to fit small Arties (which I think no other t1 minmitar frig does very well at the moment) and be a more effective scram range kiter than the slasher, while the slasher can remain the fast in your face get-in-blow-you-up-get-out-quick kind of frig that should be the ideal for a fast attack frig.


I feel this also applies to the firetail but I'll leave that for when faction frigs and interceptors are balanced (they are being rebalanced right CCP?)

I along with others have already suggested this on the combat frig forum made by ccp here

Pop a link in the RvB forums and get some support to get the problem noticed. Put a post in that forum as well since its been made by ccp so may get a response there.

well i think you're being a little short sighted here the rifter suits the armour dps line the only armour tanker in the minny line besides the wolf.
although that being said it does have more shield hp for some reason maybe that should be reversed.
Would also need more pg for decent armour tank without using ACR's

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

i do miss the old school rifter that actually had a chance against navy/pirate/t2 ships. now.. its a joke!

So no none noticed that the original poster of this forum is also in RvB

And perhaps that i was telling him to link this in our forums so it gets attention.

And perhaps that link goes to a CCP made forum that will have a greater chance to be noticed

Giving up the tracking bonus for a fall off bonus is a bad idea. I do not support it!

With regards to the firetail (and maybe the rifter too) I think they just need to have a smaller signature. This would help a lot.

There is nothing wrong with the Rifter, the only reason people are QQing is because you now have to actually fly it to win with it.
While the Slasher is nice, it still is prodominantly focused towards Tackling; where-as the Rifter (and Firetail) are still markably better at Kiting due to their tracking bonus.

Prior to the rebalance, the Rifter was frankly like a cheap Dramiel in many respects; very easy to dictate range.
The problem arise now that many of the other ships can now match it for damage output, so in a brawl things can go south very quickly.

Look at the Rifter now as more of a Frigate version of a Rupture; you'll see what I mean.
Projectiles are still a little on the OP side, compared to the other guns; so don't know why anyone is upset tbh
