Bounty system is going out of control.

Woke up this morning to find that some person with a hatre for miners, and lets not forget "no miners no ships", decided to put bounty on all miners and their corps in the system we use.

Bounties need to be re addressed so that the person placing a bounty on an entity NEEDS a decent reason other than "Oh, ive made a ton of ISK so why not use this new Griefing technique handed to me by the game makers".

Yes i know a bounty doesnt mean u can be attacked without concord intervention in hi sec but its yet another annoyance from those that only see EVE as another 1st person shooter.

Cheers for making the game a little less appealing to a person that likes the industrial side of the game.

Working as intended. You can put a bounty on them all the same, as well as sell the possible kill rights you acquire...

He doesnt like you and wants you gone from his system. Seems a legit reason to me.

Perhaps you might want to start tanking your max yeild ships.

its like paying someone to kill you .

But using ingame mechanic . Its a lot easier , and there is nothing broken tbh

So, going by all the replies thus far......merely existing in the game is an excuse for any pvp'er to put a bounty on you and that if they do u just have to live looking over your shoulder?
And when natur runs its course and everyone in EVE has a bounty on them ...what then? will CCP add another cool feature like....hmmm lets see transferable kill rights? or maybe get rid of the hi sec status of all the inner core worlds.....wouldnt all you pvp'er love that?

Nope. Working as intended. This kind of change is NOT needed. You just want to be able to mine in perfect security and it isn't going to happen. If you don't like them putting bounties on you then you can turn right around and put bounties on him. I guarantee that if all you miners did that to him then he would end up with a much bigger bounty on his head than any of you have on yours.

Also...since you clearly don't understand the mechanics...STILL...just because you have a bounty on your head doesn't mean anybody can just come kill you without CONCORD stepping in. They still need a kill right which can only be obtained if you do something illegal.

If you are any good at industry, you'd have some isk to do the same to them.

Welcome to EVE. You should have been looking over your shoulder already.

Hi-sec isn't going away, but you are not safe in hi-sec, you are safER. If you ever thought you were safe in hi-sec then I really don't know what to tell you other than that you were misinformed.

What does being a PVP'er have to do with placing a bounty? You ever think your competitors in the belt might not want you sucking up their 'roids?

Honestly, I don't know what the big deal is. Someone who would kill me to collect a bounty would likely kill me anyway just for the joy of it. Bounty doesn't make it any easier to do, just results in a bigger payout (and thus more incentive) to do it. That's all.

Even with the old mechanic, if someone with a lot of ISK and even more free time (those two kinda seem related...) decided to make you his b***h, he'd do it. Bounty or no bounty. And possibly grief you out of the game if he's dedicated enough.

But guess what? This can be done in virtually any MMO with PvP in it. I know a guy who did this in WoW for god's sake! Some guy really ticked him off, so he made him his pet project - bought a second copy of the game, made an opposite faction character on that server. Then used his first character to locate the target, and proceeded to gank him into oblivion. Wherever target went, he'd follow. And back then you couldn't level in instances (no leveling in PvP, and no group finder/teleport for dungeons). So the guy was basically screwed. The moment he stepped out of the capital city, he was dead. Heck, he was even killed a few times in capital city (I helped!), when he came in PvP-flagged (which took 5 mins to dissipate).

Bottom line, if someone wants you. I mean really, really wants you, they'll get you. Just like in real life. The only way to avoid it is to play a PvE-only game. And even then they can grief you by training mobs down on your head.

As far as griefing goes, putting a bounty on someone is as mild as it gets.

Oh stop throwing a tantrum, you are in a galaxy populated by moguls, gangland bosses, pirates and intergalactic buttholes. If you want to just sit uninterrupted watching numbers go up, may I suggest ones of those iphone games where you have to spend real money to buy currency and just watch your score skyrocket.

You already have transferable kill rights, a mechanic that works very much in the miners favor by the way.

It actually does have an effect, it makes them profitable to gank again! They are just so sad because they whined so hard to get CCP to kill the profession of ganking and they REALLY thought they'd won. Some angry venting is to be expected now that they realize they have to play EVE again.

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

Tantrum? Numbers going up?.....buddy I aint a trader that never undocks from Jita, and I am not throwing a Tantrum, Im having a discussion regarding the pros and cons of the new mechanic and expressing my opinions, just like yourself so please ry and be civil about it.
