Returning to EVE - Seeking advice for new changes

I've just returned after 11 months. Previously I did pvp, but I just don't have the time to commit to PVP so I'm going to run missions for now.
This is where I could use a little advice. There are a lot of posts talking about nerfs to heavy missiles or buffs to torps and so on and I just want to get the facts straight.

Before I quit 11 months ago my best source for dps had been a raven with T2 torps (caldari battleship V), but those suck for frigs. I'm not opposed to training into other things, in fact I've been greatly considering training into armor-based ships just to try something new and be more versatile.

Given all that, does anyone have any constructive advice for running missions / complexes? Keep in mind I only have about an hour or two a day I can log in for now. I just want to have fun in that time and not be bored with L3 missions.

Thanks!

torps now have a significantly smaller explosion radius, as they are affected by the guided missile precision skill. this means that you could technically run a torp mission setup on a cnr and not only a golem.
as for general advice: drones now get randomly targeted by rat frigates, so it is generally a good idea to have spares and/or fly a ship that can handle scramming frigates on its own. if you aren't dead set on torps, the machariel, nightmare, vindicator and vargur are good options.

I should buy an Ishtar.
