Afford pvp and plex

I've never pvp'd as I always saw it as unsustainable. If I pvp, I will eventually run out of isk and have to do something to build it back up. I know I'll get flamed with replies about how everyone catches officer fit tengus twice a day and such, but come on. We both now that is bs. Ur on top of the world to break even in a week.

I didn't post this to flame on pvp either. I want to pvp, or at least have it as an alternative to what I normally do which is lvl 5 missions. Occasionally probes pop up in my dscan and I just want to squeeze that person till their eyes pop out. I've never been scanned down. I will never be scanned down, so I'd love to be able to "flip the script" and go hunt them while they are hunting me. Better than just logging off or chatting the night away waiting for them to get bored.

I'm sorry. My question is, how do you guys afford to get so into pvp? I have to pay a plex once a month for my alt. Honestly I'd probably be ahead of the game if I pvp'd since I've lost 2 tengus and 2 basi in as many months.

Any tips?

2 days training will have you set for market trading. Next time you buy plex use it to buy some stock instead and put it in a good hub, but not Jita, it's too active for casual trading. You will lose some money at first but after a while, when you've got a decent portfolio rolling it's the easiest isk in eve.

This is a good guide to get you started. A bit old, but still relevant.

With FW you really can afford PVP without much hassle or any need to buy ISK for cash. You just need to apply the following rules:

  1. Fly cheap, (T1/Faction/T2) Frigates, T1 Destroyers and T1/Faction Crusiers are your best friends.
  2. The more expensive your ship is the more you have to go for Nano+Snipy. Brawling is simply too risky if you are flying expensive ships.
  3. Between PVP: run some plexes to gain LP points and to generate ISK. Don't forget to loot enemy wrecks!
  4. If you are new to PVP, go with fleets, Solo-PVP is only for experts who know what to expect from various ships and who smell the bait / blob.
  5. Learn to not engage everything on sight... choose your targets wisely.

9 production alts that make me 15bil ISK per month.

Hmmm that might be a bit overkill though.

Simple, don't forget to loot, always dock up after every victory, and sell what you not need.

My friend went out to PVP in a talos after about a year of bearing and lost it instantly because he forgot the basics. We decided to get him roaming again in cheaper ships. So we left jita and set dest. 50 jumps away.

We got in a fight on a low sec gate in a moa + stabber. We killed a hurricane and lost the stabber. The Hurricane gave us 9mil bounty each, i got 6.5mil back from my insurance.

Between my wreck and the hurricane wreck, we found 90% of the mods i needed to re-fit another stabber. The total cost of the stabber in the first place was 17mil...

So we made a profit from that fight.

You say you run level 5 missions and you can't afford to PvP?

Granted, I don't run missions, but ask yourself how many Merlins you can buy for what you make from just one level 5 mission. It sounds like you want to start your PvP career flying Tengus, and that is just foolish.

And how did you lose those Tengus and Basilisks if you don't do PVP and don't get probed out? Imagine how many cheap PVP ships you could have bought if you did not have to replace these losses.

I joined FW, i tend to fly smaller ships (roughly 90% of my time is spent in destoyers and frigates) i still get plenty of fights and i lose less than 500 mil a month whilst feeding a 3-4 night a week PVP habit. Most of our alliance does the same. When i need isk i tend to buy an ETC (60 days time code) and split it into 2 PLEX, sell them and make a bil for about £22. This is a hobbie and one i enjoy so spending £32 a month ( my main plus my usuall purchase of a plex a month ) not only keeps me in ships but keeps building more and more isk in the account, i now have more ships fully fit than i could probably manage to lose in a month of PVP with the time i have.

I dont imagine its hard to make 500 mil a month if you have the time to do that in EVE, passive things such as market trading and PI are simple enough and to be honest FW LP could easily get you to that point if you have the time to run sites. PVP dosent have to be as expensive as everyone thinks. Come join us nad we will show you how to PVP on the cheap.

Good Sir;

Buy PLEX and sell it. Go mow 2 lawns and you will never have to worry about ISK again.

One ten minute Gallente FW minor plex = 25k LP = 2 federation navy comets = lots of pew.

The Federation is looking for people like you who want sustainable, ecologically friendly pew!

step 1: get RL job, stop wasting isk on plex.
step 2: now you can afford to PVP.

or you can just run PVE for say, 1 weekend a month and pvp the rest.

Man I certainly didn't expect this kind of help. So rare you ask a question about eve and actually get a straight answer. I have no idea what your talking about, but I will read the pdf and start learning today. Thanks.

Yeah I lost one tengu in the hardest eve mission called Prison Break and another being stupid and jumping through low without a scout. Lost 2 basi in the same way at the same times.

Yeah I know I can't start pvping in a tengu, but I see all these ppl around here in T2 and faction stuff. I'm not very good at ship types if I haven't flown them myself; remembering what they do and how much they cost, but I know they probably cost 100m. Which is close to what I make doing an L5 mission. But still I don't want to have to fly a mission every time I lose a ship.

I guess the consensus is that I should start with T1/faction cruiser or below and find a fleet till I learn the ropes. When ever I see another ship in low it is on the dscan or I'm being killed. =) So I don't know how you can pick and choose who to fight with. It pretty much seems like when ever 2 or more ships cross paths they are going to fight. And if it is a mutual decision, why all the roaming business? Why not just go sit out front of a Hub station and duel?

I totally get probing out targets and dscanning ppl in belts or w/e and attacking them. In those instances you have a choice and some idea of what to expect. I don't know guess I need to do it to ever understand it.

Yeah I really do have a predispossion to use expensive mods and ships. I kinda think of pvp as pve where the better the tank/dps the better your chances are in a fight, but I think I may be wrong in this. Though, I'm not sure exactly how or where I'm wrong.

I'm sorry, but I refuse to pay real money for isk. I know its no different to spend hours ingame making it. Actually it makes a lot more sense to buy plex now that I think about it. ATM the decision is made for me as I'm American and our country is currently falling apart. (Unemployed) =)

My pleasure. Just to add, the pdf mentions a program called EMMA. Personally I could never get it to work. I use a program called evementat which seems to do me fine. You'll know what I'm talking about by the end of the week.Blink

Also, if you can be bothered to give up a couple of weeks training, train your 3 alts for planetary interaction. I do mine in a 0.3 system with 15 planets and that gets me close to 500 mill a month, give or take.

Like most things in eve, they both take a bit of research and you'll probably feel like giving up early on but it's not long before you get a feel for where the money is.

Good luck.

One FW level 4 mission is worth the same LP as 1 normal level 5 mission. FW missions take 5-10 minutes to complete depending on how many jumps you have to make. FW missions can be done in a 40 mil ISK stealth bomber easily. I think you are doing low sec missions wrong to be honest.
