Is it just me or does there need to be more access to public blueprint research facilities? Every single one has like 40 days left for every slot.

Seems silly.

If they added more they would just fill up again. Pos are a balanced solution. If you still don't want to get one, you can always go to lowsec or noc null.

Why don't CCP at least make slot pricing dynamic?

If more slots were added people would just make more alts and there wouldn't be any change in slot usage, only the price of pre-researched bpos.

Best option to do is train up more alts. Train the 2 additional characters you have on your account and set them up to do ME research. It only takes like 8 days (lab op V, adv lab op III, metallurgy IV). This will give you 9 slots each character.

Think the OP is saying for capsuleers that don't have access to POS research ( Builders in NPC corps) there should be some fix for the slot availability problem. Maybe they should increase slot prices just like station rental fees? Would serve as an extra ISK sink(Help Inflation) and also increase slot availability.... Especially if they increased price by the slot per player? But wish in one hand and **** in the other see which one you get first lol. Capsuleers have had this problem for as long as the game has existed and nothing has fixed the problem yet. The previously mentioned solutions are the easiest fixes for sure ( POS RESEARCH)

There's plenty of open research slots in lowsec. Just get out there, it's barely any risk if you know what you are doing. The situation with highsec slots is only a problem for hardcore carebears who never ever leave highsec, even when it's perfectly safe to do otherwise.

Don't be one of the herd, instead capitalize on them.

Good idea, but when it takes 5 years just to get a simple change in the industry UI, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Highsec stations needs less research and production capbility, not more.

It's a problem without a good solution in high-sec. If CCP opened up more slots, then more alts would be created to utilise them, if price scaling was brought in, then people would be on the forums complaining about the price hike. If CCP created vast numbers of slots, then people would be complaining about what's the point in having a pos.

One possible solution would be to scale the number of slots available depending on the sec-status of the system. The lower the sec of the space the more slots should be available. This benefits the adventurous or well set up industry player who doesn't mind taking his blueprints into low-sec as they're likely to get into research a lot faster than the people not willing to take the risk, as well as the gankers who may catch a shuttle with a titan BPO in Twisted

It has always been the case that certainly for Material research there's been queues in high-sec, then when invention was brought in, copying slots were then in demand so queues started.

The only real solution is to run your own pos, and have labs. But you may not want the expense and hassle of that.

Get A high-sec POS. You'll be happy you did.

I dunno, the local pirate stations have rather short wait times. Perhaps your area of space is too high sec? Have you visited low and null recently?

there are many ways to go about this, but I feel some one or some ones may be exploiting the game mechanics, which are not yet considered an exploit, I.E. start a job then cancel it hopping to 50 different stations every few months in the aims of raising prices on certain.. Fuels.

Working as intended.

If anything, I think NPC slots should be removed, and replaced with a proper mechanic that lets you rent out your POS slots to the general public.

This except the removal of the public slots. Just make people that own a POS have the ability to rent out an x amount of slots to the public.

This idea has been brought up a few times, but there's too many potential problems with it.

1) wait for the jobs to be installed and then take the lab down and keeping the isk - this could be solved by the isk not being transferred to the corp until either a) the job has finished, or b) the installer cancels the job.

2) the corp gets wardecced and the labs get destroyed, great inconvenience for the person putting the research in.

3) the jobs would have to auto-complete to free your slots up.

4) if the lab is being used for copying, then the copies could only be available for the installer to take, and then they'd have to get into your pos shield unless the system magically transports them to a station.

5) you wouldn't be able to cancel a job under any circumstances on your own, there would have to be a joint cancel job button, ie you could click cancel but the installer would have to confirm it too.

Invention would be a no no, they need access to your labs to put datacores and interfaces in.

so many problems, make them get their own towers :)

Well if you need fast access to blueprint research in highsec, you need your own POS as others have pointed out.

Small tower in some backwater system with corporate office is plenty to researching blueprints... Small caldari tower can handle 3 mobile labs or 3 advanced labs( for those that needs copies) and cost arround 100 mil/month on fuel cost. My point of view is its cheap...

Yes you need actually standings on faction to set up tower in highec, but theres ways arround that...

but considering that in nearly 10 years eves been existence ccp has managed not done even a single industry expansion, i would not hold my breath while waiting those devs to get up and actually do something... Expecially pos code on server side is often refered as pilo of unknown code that seems to work somehow, but none is willing to take a closer look or fix it in anyway...

If i would be a development manager in ccp i would get up and start kicking those damn coders arround a bit, this needs fixing, start working on it...

But then again none in ccp is grazy enough to hire me Roll
