Will suicide ganking continue?

As I understand it, suicide ganking requires the creation and training of an alt, who can suicide gank until he gets down to -5.0 security status, at which point he can't wait around in hi-sec space anymore.

But with retribution and the sale of kill rights, suicide gankers will now have to attempt to defend themselves in glass cannon tornadoes and thrashers? Sounds like a difficult task that could potentially take the profit out of it.

So unless I am missing something, suicide ganking should go into serious decline going forward?

People just won't be able to do it so casually. So yeah, a decline, but if someone really wants someone exploded they still will.

You're indeed missing something.

The grand majority of suicide-ganking (99%+) is done by gank alts that are outlaws. The outlaw restriction doesn't work the way you think it does. Ganking is only slightly more difficult with the outlaw flag, and as such, gankers don't recycle these alts when they hit outlaw status.

In essence, this patch didn't change anything because gankers can be shot today as much as they could be shot a week ago. That is, they can be shot at all times, in all places, legally.

Suicide-ganking will not decrease because of these changes.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

Well, I've never been suicide ganked or seen one happen so maybe I wouldn't know, but how does an outlaw get from low-sec space into the Jita corridor or something?

I would think that the routes between Jita and Amarr, Jita and Hekk or right outside the Jita base would see fewer gankers at least.

You fly a shuttle or even your pod. Both are very hard to catch in high sec. Also you get ships by boarding ships left in space at safespots by your main, or friends. Also you do not warp to where there are other people until your scout calls out a target.

I just flew through the route between Jita and Amarr in my noobish battlecruiser, hoping to see someone with kill rights up, but no one :(

That's because they're safed up, waiting to warp in for the gank when the time requires it.

The only people with kill rights you'll see 99% of the time will be rookies who accidentally shot someone in high-sec, or people who had existing kill rights before Retribution went live (for the next 30 days at most).

since when was blowing your ship up to kill another meant to be profitable?

other than the obvious untanked mining ship, or the freighter with 30b of mods in the hold.

I think its nice that the person flying the utterly unarmed ship can assign your death to someone else, why are you afraid of losing an alts ship. I mean come on you have to blow it up to do your gank anyway so ????

Suicide ganking will stop until someone makes a youtube Wiki on how to turn the safety off.

Then Suicide Ganking will become incredibly easy to kill victims until someone makes them youtube Wiki on the safety not meaning what they think it means.
