How many of you prefer the old Locked Target display over the new one?

I can even stomach that if the new damage notifications didnt give me brain cancer, why The F*** have a constant stream of unreadable text scrolling in the middle of the screen? I heard rumours that I can move it, or even get rid of it.

You can get rid of it by going to log and disabling it there. It won't show up in the log either then so GG CCP. Very well thought out as usual Roll

Don't care tbh. Lines are a bit thin, but I'll get used to it I guess.

But: It's no real improvement either, so it basically seems to be a waste of resources to me. That's the bigger issue I have with it.

Sound is much worse. These sounds entering warp... arghs... What?

they are to large,i got kinda limited realestate to shuffle windows around for fleets as it is with watchlists targetcalling history etc.
i like the damage scrolling and the other stuff but they need to scale down locked targets without making the health bars even worse to read.
Still i find it halthy that they shuffle around the ui ocne in a while or we would still be using the 2003 ui.

I can see the aesthetic appeal. The old ones were just lines after all.

The best thing to do is to ask the following two questions:

1. Does it look better than the old one?

2. Does it provide more information to me at a quick glance than the old one?

I don't know about #2, but the graphics do look better. There might be a way to improve #2 by doing something with colour? Though that would be unfair to those with colour-blindness. Why not something with shapes? Have 'full' HP bars square shaped and depleted ones triangles or something. In addition to the current white-to-red scheme.

Dislike the locked target circles, which is a bit of a shame because it mars Retribution which has otherwise introduced many awesome changes.

I do understand that there's the need to revamp the client, however in a game as complex as Eve function *must* take precedence over form. Whilst the circles look good, they are more difficult to read and visually less intuitive than the previous interface - they also use up a lot more screen space. Flying a scimitar for example I used to be able to fit max locked targets in one vertical row down the side of my overview - this is now *three* separate columns.

I suspect, similar to the new inventory CCP will be reluctant to roll back this change - but would it be unreasonable to ask that they spend some time on increasing the visibility of each distinct HP bar on a locked target? I would think a good a measure of success would be to take some FRAPS footage of the client and render it in 720p for youtube - are the bars clearly interpretable like that? If not, then they need more work.

They should at least make the hp bars a bit bigger, I feel like it's giving me eye strain trying to see how much hp the enemy has.

I make meth to fund my internet spaceships.

I find that the damage notifications are too fleeting and the opacity is too low. The targeting display is utterly useless. They had circular targeting thingos like 4 years ago and patching them out was the best thing they ever did. This UI gets extremely cluttered extremely fast and doesn't even update in real time.

as an occasional logistic pilot i have to admit that it is much worse. Not imposible to adapt... but worse. Ugh

Shorter but wider bars were much more recognizable. CCP devs have to understand that nicer =/= ergonomical. Its just like those fancy new turrets icons that had been (thankfully) removed or capacitor colors that werent adapted for colorblind players.

Ergonomy and usability >> graphics and design.

I like the new system. That said, I have great (20/15,20/13) eye sight and I, for one, can fully understand the complaints about the bar sizes. While I can see them well enough I can see (yeah, went there) why others might complain.

The trouble I'm having is that the fawkers keep re-arranging themselves in this new two bar system. I did switch to vertical with the patch though, maybe I should go back to horizontal? I'll need to play with it moar but overall I give two thumbs up.

I was really happy with all the updates CCP introduced in the last year, but this UI "improvement?" has made me not want to even log in.

1. Does it function better? No.

2. Is it easier on the eyes? No.

3. Do the HP bars update in real time? No.

4. Does it lag client side? Yes.

5. Does it clutter up the screen? Yes.

6. Are damage notifications easy to see and informative? No.

7. Do i want 20 Damage notification messages at once? No.

8. Do i want cross hairs on every ship/drone on grid? No.

9. Do these cross hairs serve any purpose? No.

This patch introduced a lot of good changes too which are a long time overdue.

1. T1 ship balances and our first new ships in a while.

2. Aggro changes.

3. Bounty System improvements.

4. New ECCM skills and ECM changes.

5. Heavy Missile Nerf+HAM (semi-buff)

6. Pretty much everything that didn't include the new UI?

Seriously though, the new UI is actually making me not want to play until something is done about it. I really hope CCP revert the changes and either work on this new UI or scrap it completely (I doubt many people will miss it).

I doubt CCP will revert this however as they don't seem to care what the player base want as they just force changes which are arguably worse than their predecessor. Add a button to USE OLD UI and I'll be happy.

Aside from the Dev blog, I haven't seen it as I haven't locked anybody or anything up yet. I did notice that I didn't at all mind the old one while flying around shortly before Retribution though. Smile I'm sure with a bit of acclimation, you'll get used to it though.

Oh yeah! I preffer the old one. I really think it is not a matter of me not getting used to it, but it simply isnt natural for me to read in circles. I really need few seconds to see did I breach shield armor or hull on my target, and lets all agree those few seconds you lose on reading your targets status can make him run or make you dead. Seconds matter in eve and with this crap, they are exactlly what you took from us! Plus it looks ugly!!

I think it looks good but it is not quite as practical as the old one. I am sure we will get used to it quite fast and I do not have the slightest doubt that the new system will stay.
